We just spent a wonderful ten nights ‘honeymoon’ at the San Domenico Palace Hotel and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone seeking a luxurious 5* hotel that truly stands out from the crowd. We never doubted that it would please us (we’d had several personal recommendations) but some of the reviews on Trip Advisor had made us feel slightly uneasy... more

The sheer beauty of Palazzo San Domenico is breath taking. It is a welcome oasis of calm and tranquillity in the non-stop bustle that is Taormina. For us it was the complete package, from the cool solitude of the cloisters, to the sun drenched gardens with stunning views of Mount Etna. The accommodation was graceful and elegant and our balcony... more

we loved the hotel-after some trepidation reading a few of the neg reviews here, we booked a seaview room. room was decent size, very tasteful had a small balcony overlooking formal garden and sea (i think deluxe seaview). staff is very understated but smart. for instance, when you ask directions, instead of giving them, they walk you all the way.... more

We stayed for a few days in April.. We agree with a previous comment that both the exterior and interior is tired and this is borne out by the lack of enthusiasm of the staff. We were shown a room with balcony which due to there being a palm tree overshadowing the balcony was very dark. We asked to be... more

yes beautiful gardens, incredible views. But so run down and dusty, it does not live up to its reputation. We had a flood in our corner room (supposed to be the best) as the window panes are so old, rain goes right through them... would not recommand for any longer than 3 days. Plus the concierge send you to touristic... more

I stayed at Palazzo San Domenico with my wife in August of 2008...It was our first trip to Sicily and we didn't know what to expect...We drove from Catania and finally managed to find our way to the hotel (was a bit confusing)...The hotel itself is in a restored monastery...There is a courtyard in the front and the common areas... more

There are certain hotels that stand out in your memory like an oak towering over a grassy meadow and I am certain that this wonderful place - previously a monastery before being converted into one of Taormina's premier hotels - will be one of them. My job has meant me staying in many a hotel - ranging from the slummiest... more

Spectacular view to the garden and sea, good breakfast, comfortably located near shops and restaurants. But my room was tiny (it looked like a monastery cell). And tons of mosquitoes, too. more

We spent 3 nights at the Palazzo San Domenico in mid-February 2009. Our standard double room in the "new" wing (1800s) was upgraded to a superior standard upon arrival, which seemed to mean that we had a partial side view of the ocean. Overall, this was probably our nicest ever hotel experience and despite the high cost, we were very... more

Our stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience that we will definately repeat and would not hesitate to recommend to others. The hotel itself is beautiful, fascinating, full of history and maintained to the highest standard. It was very quiet at this time of the year (Jan) and we were made to feel rather special as guests. The well trained staff... more
