This is a great hotel, from the beautiful views to the helpful staff! The front desk gave us dinner suggestions, directions to various sites, and answered our many questions about the area. Breakfasts were outstanding, with lots of fresh fruit, eggs, and the delicious pastries. If you can get a room with a water view, you can spend hours gazing... More

Despite other reviews our room was very nice and we very much enjoyed our 4 nights at the Imperiale. It was clean and staff was helpful. It is close to the shopping area of Taormina and you will fall in love with this city....We have only good memories of our stay here and off course we recommend this hotel.

Had the hotel not advertised themselves as a Five Star (European so to me, an American, that meant 4 stars), I would not have been as let down as I was. Our rates for late September 2014 were Euro 316.80, 346.50. We stayed two nights. Valet parking was about Euro 25.00 a night. The room was a small, but laid... More

The hotel is located close to the city center. Just cross the street and you are in the touristy shopping streets of Taormina. Room was modern and classy; plus offered nice sea views. Pool area not so big. Staff was very friendly. We had to leave very early, but got breakfast anyway before opening hours. For dinner and lunch I... More

Liking an hotel is very subjective, and down to personal preference. There are many positives about this hotel: the position is good, a short walk into the heart of Taormina: the staff are a joy, unfailingly cheerful, helpful and polite: the breakfast buffet is excellent, with a large selection of fruit available, eggs cooked to order, and and endless supply... Just returned from a five day stay , lovely hotel of contemporary design . Our room overlooked the rear of the hotel . It was quite compact but very comfortable with a nicely appointed bathroom with a waterfall shower over the bath . The hotel has an infinity pool located on the second floor overlooking a beautiful view . My... More

We stayed at the Imperiale for four nights and it was great, the hotel staff was accommodating in every way. We received an AmX upgrade to an ocean view room which was wonderful. The breakfast in the morning had a full buffet and also allowed you to pick off the menu and the rooftop bar had an awesome view, not... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights while on our honeymoon in Sicily...wish we had stayed longer. Originally we booked the Double Exclusive Room but upon our arrival we were upgraded to the corner suite on the 5th floor. The size of the room was very nice, all equipment were in great shape, and their staff was super... More

Hotel in great location however rooms are very small just about room to squeeze around the bed and wardrobe (rail) is in bathroom. We had opted for the mountain view thinking this would be of Mount Etna - big mistake you end up with a claustrophobic view of the cliff face that hotel is built into so upgrade to sea... More

My wife and I have just returned home after spending a week at this hotel. As far as we were concerned, it ticked all the right boxes. We booked a Junior suite and were on the 5th floor on the right hand corner of the hotel, so we had great views towards Naxos on the right and the beach area... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Myths of classic Greece, the Sicilian sea, Saracen and Norman echoes reflecting on the snowy slopes of Mount Etna. Day after day, the silence, colours, light and the aromas of Taormina relate infinite pages of stories, legends and traditions. An exploration of trees and sunsets, starry nights, timeless moments in the exclusive setting of the Hotel Imperiale. Stroll up to Hotel Imperiale through the streets of the historic centre of Taormina; through the scent of wisteria and the colour of bougainvillea. The position of the building, standing above the roofs of the town, provides an exceptional panorama, with the Greek Theatre in the foreground and the sea, from Capo S. Alessio to the Bay of Naxos in the near distance. A short walk away you will find Corso Umberto, Taormina’s exclusive promenade, which has seen a host of celebrities make this small part of Paradise famous throughout the world: Maupassant, Goethe, Oscar Wilde, Vittorio De Sica, Sophia Loren, Gregory Peck, Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth and Liz Taylor. The magic of Taormina has beguiled many film directors over the years into setting their films here. Still today the world of cinema keeps its appointment every year for the Taormina Film Festival. Located in the heart of Taormina's historic centre, close to Corso Umberto I and the Palacongressi (home of the International film Festival), the historic Hotel Imperiale was built at the beginning of the 20th century and reopened in 2009 after restructuring works. The design and the restructuring has been carried out in full observance of the styles and local materials, such as the widely used volcanic stone, and has been adapted to modern requirements, in line with the philosophy of all hotels of the Exclusive Hotel Collection. The 63 rooms and suites enjoy Brazilian rosewood furniture, in colours reminiscent of the warmth of Sicily, its mosaics, ceramics and volcanic stone. The exclusive Pool and Terrace Suites boast a solarium or private terrace with a private outdoor spa bath and steam room. A panoramic outdoor pool and a Roof Garden treat guests to stunning views. This luxury 5 star hotel offers an exclusive 260 m² SPA with 5 CARITA and DECLEOR treatment rooms, the Anfiteatro restaurant with VIP room, serving traditional Sicilian dishes, the Pool Bar and a 200 seat conference hall making it an ideal place for important events and special occasions. ... more   less
