First of all, finding a parking space for non-residents of Syracuse is next to impossible. And the staff is of absolutely no help ... Secondly, the hotel is shabby looking and poorely ran - 4 differents receptionists of whom one forgot to return my ID at the time of check-out and quite a lot of persuasion and help of staff... More

If all you want is a good mattress, hot water and clean towels then this is the place for you. But don't expect anything else although we did have a sea view. Dirty bathroom, rebuild the shower cubicle to use it, clammy bed linen and don't expect breakfast on site - it is 5 minutes walk away. And then it... More

Have to say the cheek of these people to charge EUR95 a night..... what a dreadful hotel. I think my photos will say a lot. The receptionist was lovely, I actually felt sorry for both her and the cleaner having to work in this place. We stayed just after Easter (2014) and but for the fact that Siracusa was beautiful... We came to Syracusa by chance and found hotel Aurora and a place to park very nearby and that's about the only good thing. O second comes the view which is great. I have never seen an place dirtier than this hotel. I would be ashamed of myself if I would run the place. True - once it must have... More

An easy 30 min stroll from the rail station through Ortygia (Syracusa's old town) means overpriced taxi unnecessary and you arrive feeling something of the old Greek character of the area before the quirky reception on the 1st floor. Booking ahead with hotels.com I had a top floor room with high ceilings in the classic Italian style and wonderful tall... More

We stayed in this hotel about a month ago and found it a cool experience. Siracusa (ancient Syracuse) is full of history - it was one of the key Mediterranian powerhouses when the Greeks and Romans were running heir empires. You can feel that history in strolls around the old town centre of Ortigia, where the huge sea walls all... More

We had not booked anywhere to stay in Syracuse, and usually would check trip advisor for reviews beforehand. This time we had parked our rental car and decided to walk into a few hotels to see what the price and availability was. Hotel Aurora was the first place we walked into and the owner was really helpful showing us around... More

Beautiful location with rooms over-looking the sea. However, rooms very spartan with broken bathroom fittings and mould all around shower. Air conditioning and TV did not work. Two bedside lights broken. When mentioned to receptionist, she just slung her handbag over her shoulder and said 'I'm off!' And disappeared for the night! Nice breakfast area but we were given vouchers... More

I stayed here last minute for just one night. We are not picky travellers so are very happy with the most basic of accommodations. The building is grand and with some modernisation and care it could be a great basic B and B. As it stands, the bedrooms were dirty, particularly the bathroom and the walls are in serious need... We didn't book this place ahead of time and instead looked up a couple of places in our guidebook before arriving in Siracusa. We got dropped off at the bus station and then made the trek over to Ortigia, which isn't very close by. This was the first of the places we'd picked out from the book (based on price... More
