This is a very good hotel, with well appointed rooms. It is close to the archialogical sites and has great views over the city of Siracusa. The breakfast is excellent and the roof top pool great. The only down-side is that it is the other side of town to Ortigya and the majority of restaurants.

Although you would not book this hotel for its character of history, if you are just needing a clean and comfortable reasonably priced place to stay then the Mecure is a good option. We had problems with our toilet flushing the whole night and the bedroom smelt of stale smoke. The television seemed to be in mono too, although we were not there to watch t.v!! Excellent new hotel. The breakfast is excellent. The pool on the roof very nice. Two drawbacks - no free internet, only for 30 min and far 40min walk from Ortigia. On the other hand the archaeological park is close.
