Grand Hotel Ortigia is located on the oldest part of Siracusa, the Ortigia Island. The hotel is a beautiful old building which offers all the necessary infrastructure for a wonderful holiday. Breakfast is served on the last floor which faces the sea and the view is wonderful. The staff was helpful and nice. The rooms are nice even though the... More

We arrived, with the aid of Tom-Tom, in mid afternoon. The temperature outside was 38 degrees Celsius. This was due to a sirocco wind blowing off the Sahara desert and frankly it was much too hot for us. Normally temperatures at the end of June are in the high 20s/low 30s. Parking is available at a charge of €10/day. That... More

Location of the hotel was very good with a nice sea view and in the heart of Ortigia. Check-in and check-out were efficient. At check-in we were upgraded to a junior suite from a deluxe room which sounded good at first, but the junior suite had two levels; on a suspended upper level there was only a double bed, and... This is one of the better known hotels in the town but I doubt whether it is anywhere near the best and suspect that there are boutiques in the town which are much better. But it is easy to book the Grand without hours of research and you can't go too far wrong. The Grand is well stuated and has... More

My wife and I attended a business conference in this ancient relatively unknown city in Sicily. The hotel rating system is different than what American travelers would be used to. A five star in USA is different than five star in Europe. This hotel is well appointed with luxuries not typically found in this rural region of the world. The... More

Reasonably priced this five stars hotel is a perfect place to spend few days in Ortigia. The terrace where breakfast and dinners are served is absolutely impressive and quality of service is up to the expectations. Unfortunately the WiFi in room 212 is not perfectly working as the coverage is not good.

Very conveniently placed just over the bridge onto the 'island' of Ortigia. Our room was bright and airy and well equipped although space was a little limited in the otherwise perfectly fine bathroom. The rooftop restaurant was the ideal spot for breakfast and the staff were well marshalled by the superb maitre d. whose style and humour made for some... More

I made an appointment for a massage for two days after I arrived because they were booked in the spa. A few minutes later, I received a call saying they could actually fit me in today at 4:15pm. I arrived at 4:10 pm and the massage started at 4:15. At 4:55 she announced that she was finished and billed me... More

Spent three nights at Grand Hotel Ortigia and was very pleased. Great harbor view and location for easy walk to main square and shops, restaurants, etc. Rooms were decent size and breakfast was very good also on top floor of hotel with a view. Did notice tour groups also staying at this hotel. I would return to this hotel if... More
