Very nice and pleasent hotel. The staff is always nice, rooms are clean. Some of them with lovely view on sea. The restaurant with terrase on top of the hotel has amazing view on sea. Very tasty breakfast.

Beautiful hotel with an elevator with glass walls. Some of the people in our tour had rooms on the first floor that were like lofts (some had the bathroom downstairs/bedroom upstairs; others had BR/BA upstairs, sitting room downstairs); we were on the 2nd floor and that was a regular room which I think is better than a loft arrangement. The... More

Strategically located, occupying a square block in a quiet area of Ortigia, the Grand Hotel Ortigia get my top rating. The yellow/white facade lets the viewer know of its class and elegance. The interior spaces are well designed, not wasted with unnecessary areas. The central courtyard adds a sense of greatness and light to this beautiful edifice. Our room was... More

I would recommend this hotel. not too impressed with the junior suite which is a bit dark - suspect better off with standard room. However really nice place to stay. Very nice staff [ can't say we have ever had anything other in Italy] and the breakfast on top floor balcony is stunning.

Well located hotel with some style ,breakfast terrace a great way to start the day.Helpful staff but hotel let down by poor wi fi connection .Useful to have computer in lobby but not a substitute. We had a nice second floor room with a nice side window view toward the harbour -rooms on the small side for a 5 star hotel... At first, I was disappointed. Our room was tiny and I had yet to appreciate the charm of Ortigia. However, in the end we were sad to leave both the hotel and the island. The hotel has an old fashioned allure and many splendid features and certainly boasts the best breakfasts I ate in Sicily. It takes at least 20... More

A little surprised that this hotel merits 5 stars. While it is quite nice as a small, high quality hotel in an old-fashioned way, and service was very professionally delivered, all in all it did not quite seem to meet an international 5 star level. Nonetheless, the location was fantastic - lovely views of the waterfront from our rooms and... More

This is an okay hotel. The staff are not overly helpful, they don't give you the wi-fi code unless you ask, they send you off to the pharmacy when they know it will be closed, are completely unapologetic that their private beach is closed when the weather is in the mid-thirties, and they perfunctorily show you to your room. Obviously,... More

5 star hotel - NO After initially being allocated a room & we went to park the car they must have decided we didn't have the right accent as we were then downgraded Had our brother in law with us while he was waiting to check in his accommodation nearby - did this cause problems - thought we were going... When I book a five star hotel I have a certain expectation of quality, comfort and good service in a well maintained property, after all five is the maximum stars a hotel can have, so it must be the best, yes? I just wish this had been the case in the Grand Hotel Ortigia where I have just spent two... More
