Palermo isn't the most relaxing of cities - so it is good to have a quiet, well-run, clean and friendly place to stay while visiting this fascinating but chaotic city. Il Giardino di Ballaro is all of the above, very centrally located but, yes, in a rather run-down part of town. We did not experience any security issues, however. The... More

I am extremely grateful to have found this place using tripadvisor. It is really a gem, hidden in the Ballaro area. Nice and clean, quit, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpfull staff and worth every euro we have paid.

We enjoyed our stay at Il Giardino di Ballaro. The part of town the hotel is in is certainly a little bit more hectic and rougher than other parts, and although we never had any issues, I did feel ever so slightly on edge walking back at night, so some people may prefer to take a taxi. The hotel itself... More

Il Giardino di Ballaro really is a little garden within Ballaro. It is a little restored hotel right in the middle of the older part of town. Rougher? Maybe, however, the area certainly has lots of character. The hotel itself is an impressive renovation project. It used to be an old stable. The owners have done a great job making... More

Location is in the rougher part of town, Ballaro. That is a good thing. It is lively, interesting, colorful, and central to many places you'll want to walk to. Some other reviewers have commented on how the area looks rundown. That is true. However, the B&B is an excellent restoration and during my time in that area (which ran to... More

My husband and I stayed here on the first night of our anniversary trip. We were able to park right outside the B&B which was great and from the chaos outside we were transported to a quiet oasis. The staff were very helpful and made us feel at home, they even gave us a map with all the attractions and... More

An awesome place, nicely decorated, clean and very central. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A great stay for a very reasonable price. We loved the room atmosphere and the nice terrasse. The breakfast was also very nice.

I'll start with the 3 minor drawbacks: • parking a rental vehicle is a bit of nightmare, as on-street parking is limited, and roads are very narrow. • if your room is on-street, night-time ambient noise prevents you from opening the window (though there is air conditioning). • the free WiFi only reaches the common areas near the front desk... Il Giardino was probably the best B&B of our entire month in Sicily. Its in the oldest part of Palermo, admittedly a "gritty" part of the city, but loaded with atmosphere. Passing through the doorway of Il Giardino the bustle, noise (and yes, the rubble) of the city are left behind. The building was an old stable, now lovingly, and... More

An oasis of calm and comfort in the middle of bustling Palermo. Il Giardino provides an immaculately restored environment that is both elegant and comfortable. The bedrooms are large with all the features that you need. The "public" areas are filled with artistic decorations (ceramics when we were there). The breakfast room is light and overlooks the garden (unusual for... More
