We were stopped by the police 3 times on the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, as the hotel is in the middle of a pedstranised zone. Also had our licences and insurance checked and taken off us. Eventually a policewoman allowed us through, but we nearly got a parking ticket when unloading our luggage outside the hotel (there is a garage which... More

I think the bureaucrats who decide on UNESCO World Heritage Site locations must be getting desperate. The hotel is smack in the middle of the "Norman-Arab" new World Heritage site, which appears to mean "crumbling buildings of no apparent distinction." Mostly it seems to mean the streets have been shut down so it's difficult to get anywhere. After one navigates... More

We arrived here as a group of 12 people. The location of this hotel was perfect for browsing in the Vucciria Mercato a few blocks away. Since we arrived on a late flight from the US, we elected to have dinner at the rooftop restaurant. Dinner was delicious with an amazing view of Palermo. Afterwards, we walked down one level... We stayed four nights in room 337 last week and fell under the charm of the whole hotel. The reception staff every day at every hour was very helpful : we had a slight problem with the air conditionning and within five minutes, they sent somebody to repair it. Of course, as said in previous reviews, the furniture is worn... More

We had no wifi in room 208 but the staff made no fuss about changing room for us and we got 336 instead which had a beautiful little terrace with chairs and table (and a fully working wifi) :). The staff is kind but the restaurant staff could be nicer. Beautiful hotel and lovely breakfast between 7.30-10ish and close to... More

The location is really good, everything within walking distance. Not for any one who wants modern décor as the charm/period decor of this hotel is apparent throughout. We did not eat in the hotel but the restaurant has very impressive view. The breakfast spread was extensive compared to other Italian hotels I have stayed in with eggs cooked fresh to... More

Palermo Centrale Hotel is located ten meters from Quatro Canti Square, Pretoria Square, Bologna Square and it has som turn of the century décor. The décor is bold, excessive in the common areas and gives a great idea what is really Sicily. The reds, the marbles, the mosaics and the gold stucco. Bedroom is set with a calmer soothing color... May have been concerned with other reviews which indicated a faded past but our experience was truly exceptional. Cool interior, lovely room, beautiful common rooms decorated with antiques. Breakfast was sumptuous and roof top dining Ai Tetti could not be faulted. We ate some of the best meals in Sicily - fine dining overlooking the rooftops. Staff were lovely both... More

I have heard a conception that the Northern Italians hold their Southern cousins to be lazy and snobby. While I'm sure that his stereotype, like all generalisations, is unfair, the staff at this hotel seemed to go out of their way to affirm it. While our room was clean and quite comfortable, the whole building seemed to have seen better... More
