Staying at Butera 28 was like a step back in time, a taste of the reality of Sicilian life. It is perfect for travellers like me who want to experience some cultural authenticity. I was warmly welcomed into the home by the Duchess, with her Australian assistant, and then settled into my cosy apartment. I was fortunate enough to spend... More

Staying at Butera 28 offers far more than any hotel. The apartments are located in a beautiful Palazzo near the marina that belonged to Giuseppe di Lampedusa ( author of The Leopard) and is now owned by the author's nephew. The apartments themselves are very charming and spacious, with tiled floors and antique furniture. But the best thing about Butera... More

A stay at Butera 28 is a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the culture and history of Palermo. We stayed for one fantastic week in apartment 12 where we were made to feel extremely welcome by Nicoletta and her team of staff. The apartment was beautiful and clean with balconies overlooking the via Butera and the Palermo skyline. We... More

These apartments are in a great location in Palermo, easy walking distance to the port and many restaurants. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. Our apartment was spacious and clean - a perfect setup for two women traveling together who wanted separate sleeping areas. My favorite touch was the lion's head on the front door!

My Fiance and I ended our two week exploration of Sicily in this wonderful apartment in Palermo. The apartment is very spacious and clean with a balconies off the bedroom, living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully functional, we picked up some fantastic food from some of the local markets and cooked a fabulous dinner. The kitchen also comes... More

I stayed in apartment number 8 during my stay and couldn't recommend it more. The apartment itself is fit for two though, is clean, had a washing machine and all the cooking supplies one would need! The famous Ballaro market is only walking distance away and there is also a large supermarket within walking distance from this apartment. If you... More

We have spent several months in Italy on several different trips, but had never been to Sicily. We much preferred Modica, Ragusa Ibla and the other side of Sicily. The traffic into Palermo was unbelievably horrible, And I have driven through Milano and Roma so I'm not a rookie.

Great location, clean and comfortable. Nicoletta was extremely helpful prior to our arrival and made our visit that much more enjoyable - from the recommended tour guides, places to eat and day trips (the beach was great). We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and hope to soon!

We had one of the more recent apartments that was located a few doors down from the main via Butera 28 palazzo. It was basic but quite comfortable accommodation. We had a very warm welcome from the accommodation assistant and she arranged for us to meet Nicoletta Polo, the Duchess of Palma. The location is set in one of the... More

My girlfriend organized the "Cooking with the Duchess" day as a birthday present. I thoroughly enjoyed what was a unique experience; from the visit to the market, to the time in the kitchen, to the wonderful lunch served in a magnificent dining room. Nicoleta and her husband were friendly and welcoming and the history of the palacio and their family... More
