My wife and I stayed at Butera 28 in July of 2015, along with my brother in law, his wife, and their 4 children. It was a fantastic experience all round. You can tell that the place was built to house royalty. Although (like Palermo) it's golden age was some time ago, the quality is still there wherever you look.... More

I had the most wonderful time at Butera 28! I found the location absolutely perfect, as it's right on the seafront which gives it an otherworldly quality, and yet it is also just minutes away from all the sites you could want to see. I especially love the very grand doors and Nicoletta is an extremely thoughtful and superb hostess.... More

Quite honestly we were drawn to these apartment hotel rooms because they are part of the ancestral palazzo of the author of "Il Gattopardo", Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. The apartments are spacious and kitchens clean and well-stocked. Once you've bargained with the carabinieri to let you pass into the zona residenziale, park and enjoy walking Palermo from this central location... More

If you are looking for something different than generic 5 star experience than choose Butera 28. Everything is very well organised. There was even some Butter+milk in the fridge for breakfast. Very clean apartments with antique furniture and wonderful floor tiles. I loved the 70ties look bathrooms. We had apartment 13 which had two levels ( Bathroom is upstairs). Our friends... More

An ideal base for exploring Palermo's fascinating historic center, the beautiful apartments of Butera28 are housed within the famed Palazzo Lanza Tomasi, the last home of Prince Giuseppe di Lampedusa, author of the celebrated Sicilian novel "The Leopard." My apartment was huge with gorgeous tiles on the floors and in the bathroom, and included a kitchen (with a can of... More

The home of the nephew/adopted son of Giuseppe di Lampedusa, in the older part of Palermo one block from the sea. There is a great restaurant/wine bar outside the door, and other more family-oriented spots for gelati or beer on the water. There is a new 4-star hotel across the street, too, and we used their concierge for calling taxis... More

We stayed here for three nights in apartment 8. It is easily accessed by a lift. The apartment is not large but fine for two people although the kitchen is pretty small. We did not want to cook prepare any meals so that did not worry us. There were ongoing problems with electrical blackouts but Nicoletta and her assistant Tess... More

Staying here is an experience. You are in an old palace in an interesting part of the city and next door live the current duke and duchess of Palma, who are wonderful. The duchess is a mine of information on what to do and where to eat. Apatrtment 17 was very spacious, rather old fashioned and comfortable but not luxurious.... More

We stayed for just 2 nights in Palermo in May 15 and I picked Butera 28 as it was recommended in my "Great Drives in Italy" guide book. The apartment (no. 9) was very roomy with good size bedroom (plenty of storage), dining room, living room, very small kitchen, balcony and roof top terrace. The roof top terrace had great... More
