En route to the eolian islands we decided to stay for a night in Messina and this hotel was recommended by locals.. Probably they also have decent rooms but ours (#12) was a real horror.. Smelly, humid, dirty shower with a curtain falling apart, the colour on the walls (see pics) scrambling because of humidity, noisy aircon, and as usual... More

We had an unplanned stay over in Messina as our hydrofoil to Stromboli had to turn back due to stormy weather, we found Sant'Elia on trip advisor and it was reasonably priced and adequate for an over night stay. Room was clean and fairly comfortable, air con worked well. We didn't have breakfast as left really early to get the... More

This hotel had the best bed and pillows of any hotel we had stayed in in Italy! We slept very well! Breakfast was nothing special, in fact, we did not eat much at all (because of the lack of food). Internet only works in the lobby and the elevator broke down EVERYDAY (normally not a big deal, but the only... More

The room was large with a high ceiling and polished floors. Looked like it had just been renovated. A little bit cool for January but would have been ideal in warmer weather. There was an air conditioner which was tricky to manage, but after we spoke to the front desk we had no further problem. Maybe some kind of eco... More

I stayed here for a week while studying with my school group from Virginia Commonwealth University. This was a great hotel and all of us had a good time here. A lot of students and groups stayed here during my stay, so I had the opportunity to meet students from all over the world. Although it was a lot of... More

relatively new upgrade (furniture, bathroom, floors ), quite ok compared with other hotels in the area. Internet supposed to be available free of charge was very poor. Breakfast quite strange for me ,with limited quantities/qualities of food. You have to wake up early to get some cheese and ham.Plenty orange juice.Sunday breakfast limited to croissant, fruit jelly, orange juice.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks while studying at the University of Messina. We stayed in a beautiful room that was hand painted. THe rooms are large, and very tastefully decorated. The hotel is walking distance from the harbor and the best shopping in Messina. There is a restaurant in the hotel, and the pasta is very good,... More

We stopped here on a rainy Nov Thurs after a day of touring Sicilian ruins. The room was large though not fancy. Parking was 5 Euros down the street in a pubic garage (car was fine but pay before you get the car!). We walked the streets without incident and found our 2nd best pizza in Italy around the corner...
