We booked a our stay at the Romano Palace mostly based on it's proximity to the Catania airport following a couple weeks of traveling around Sicily. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly and helpful staff of the hotel, particularly Valeria at the front desk. The restaurant staff and food furthered impressed us. Far better ingredients and cooking than we... More

I stayed for just twelve hours but was pleased with the hotel. It's close to the airport and located across the street from the beach. I was here in January but I imagine that that this hotel is much more busy during the warmer months. Fully stocked hotel bar that provided me with drinks and snacks. Limited beer selection (Becks,... Just before we flew out I read the reviews from Nov/Dec 015 and my first thoughts were.....Oh no, we are not going to like it. I can fully understand negative reviews(particularly from Brits & Americans) on the overall lack of atmosphere. Guys....we must look beyond. A charming, classy, quiet 5 star(Sicilian rating) that's fairly close to the port and airport(5-10... More

Quite enough since it is not in the center of the city but close enough to visit historical center (even on foot, around 20' min away). the garden is very nice and the pool as well. rooms are nicely decorated, spacious with full cable tv and nice balcony. breakfast with many choices and a nice view of Etna mountain. wifi... This is one of the best hotels in Catania. Pros: Elegant, comfortable and very silent at night. Personnel is nice and well prepared. Great breakfast and dinner. Cons are that it is not cheap, it's really out of town and there are many many mosquitos, to fight with. A remark: give enough allowance time when booking a taxi, airport is... More

But if you have the choice, DON'T!! Superficially it's ok. However: Staff cannot really be bothered to talk to you - usual complaint WiFi does not work I went to the front desk to ask if it was ok. The girl then promptly took a call and ignored me. After 5 minutes I walked off. - breakfast The two staff... More

We were end of season visitors so the hotel was quite quiet, apart from one night when there was a doctors' convention in town. Not that they were noisy but made the hotel seem busier than it was. The rooms were comfortable and ours was quite spacious. Have no complaints about the housekeeping. Breakfast was what you would expect for... More

We chose this because we had an early flight the next morning and it seemed very close to the Catania Airport. It is and it isn't -- a "you can't get there from here" situation. Other hotels are closer. We stopped to ask directions from some local residents and one of them actually got in his car and led us!... More

We stayed here in September for a 10 night break, we was looking forward to staying in this so called 5 Star Luxury hotel, which it really wasn't and gutted we didn't take in the negative comments on here! I have travelled all over the world and I have to say that this hotel was probably more a 2-3 star!... More

It's not anywhere near as wonderful as it is touted to be. My room was small and sparse, and it only had one available electrical outlet. The lights shutting off without the key in the slot by the door is very annoying as well. The WiFi didn't work at all (and I work in IT, so I don't have trouble... More
