This was our first night in Sicily. We checked in after 9pm from a late flight and was directed to a great local restaurant. The next day we had problems with car hire and the receptionist went out of her way to help us. She was replaced by another young lady who took up our cause and when we finally... More

We stayed at the La Vecchia Palma last Saturday and we absolutely loved it! The location is perfect, only 20 min walk from the city centre still with the view of the Etna from our window. The building is lovely and well maintained. Our room ( nr. 10) was lovely and spacious with an original high seeling. Still updated with... More

When the receptionist showed us our room she said that it was very old and very quiet. The first was unquestionable, the second not quite. Even though we were on a busy road, we could hear no traffic. The only disturbance came from an old and rather squeaky bed. Fortunately we were travelling friends not a honeymooning couple.so managed to... More

Great hotel! Just a few meters from bus and Metro station. Located on one of the main streets of Catania. Easy access to city center (15 min walk or 5 min by bus). The room was not very big, but it had a really high ceiling which gave a nice spacious feel. Staff was very friendly and helped with all... More

La Vecchia Palma is a standard hotel in Catania. It's a bit pricy - considering the location, but the rooms has a lot of atmosphere. The service differs an lot depending on who is working the reception. The AC is working all right, which is absolutly necessary during the summer in Catania. The Hotel is an alright pick, but do... A bit out of the centre of Catania but otherwise a charming old pensione with tons of character. The rooms have high ceilings and huge windows and are full of antiques -- with an incongruous but very welcome, state-of-the-art flat-screen TV and DVD system. Everything is spotless and comfortable -- and its a very relaxing place to hang out, with... More

Lovely little hotel in the centre of Catania. Admittedly it was right on a main road and a little noisey, but Catania isn't the most beautiful place in the world either, so it was at times a relief to find a welcoming, clean, fresh-smelling and tidy hotel. Breakfast is basic, but nice. Rooms are very nice though. Only let down... More

Great little hotel - somewhat inconveniently located for main city sights. Good staff, excellent breakfast. Really terrific baroque-style rooms - ours was way above average size for Sicily. 20 foot ceilings with murals. Fantastic!

The Hotel was a good 25 minute walk from the centre of Catania up a steep busy road. The room we had on the ground floor had large windows that didn't quite close properly (no double glazing) so the noise and pollution from the traffic was quite intense. The room had an 'old world' charm with old furniture and paintings... More

Like many European hotels, the rooms and especially the bathrooms are tiny. But the room was so charming. The hotel is basically a villa that was converted into a small hotel. The room is no more than a bureau, mirror and bed- but the ceilings were painted with frescos and were 15-20 feet high. It was a really cute little... More
