The location is great: 5 mints walking distance from the old town with a large variety of bars and restaurants. The staff at the reception are friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to have a room with sea view which made all the difference. The room was cleaned but needed a full refurb (especially the bathroom). The breakfast is very... More

We had a wonderful stay at El Balear. The 5 stars are given mainly for the excellent service and for the view. Not all the rooms have sea view, so be sure to ask for one of these. Excellent location in easy walking distance of the old town and port. We were there with our 2 children, 2 and 4... More

We had a very small, basic and old-fashioned room on the 2nd floor, at the back of the hotel, with view on the back of a social housing block that was shielded with metal grilles and with barbed wire! If you're not depressed yet, you might become it here. We asked for an other room but the unfriendly clerk at... More

We stayed one night, the room was old but clean, the hotel is some 10 minutes walk to the old town. Low season price is reasonable, during high season it would be far too expensive for what you get. Breakfast could be better, e.g. with a real Italian coffee or a real fruit salad.

Very pleased that we chose to stay at the El Balear. Excellent location in easy walking distance of the old town and port. We would recommend hiring bikes from the hotel and cycling along the promenade. We also loved the Riservato beach bar just across the road where we got a good discount on sunbeds because we were guests at... More

I would avoid this hotel! The factors in favour are a friendly and welcoming staff, a good location convenient for a stroll into Alghero city centre and it's on the seafront. BUT the rooms are in need of serious refurbishment, there is no lift even with three floors to haul heavy luggage up (so no good for anyone with a... More

I was surprised that this hotel seemed so low in the pecking order in Alghero. I stayed one night at the end of a cycling trip. Thought Alhero was lovely and was very happy with hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly.

We stayed one night at this hotel which is a very short walk away from the centre of the lovely old town of Alghero. The staff on reception were very friendly, even making us a coffee and giving us a croissant as we left early before the breakfast opened. Room was comfortable, if a little old fashioned, not been updated... More

We arrived before the check in time, and were allowed leave our bags in a room until it was time to check in, our room was on the first floor sea view with a balcony and a separate closed in balcony which was great for the windy days. And the sun sets are out of this world. The bed was... More

I spent 4 nights during my trip to Alghero. I had a single room with balcony and seaview. The room was standard, but clean and OK. Breakfast was included. Good value for money. Location of this hotel is perfet, with short walking distance to the Old Town. The sunset view is great to watch from the outside bararea. I had... More
