We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights after reading the positive reviews and were disappointed with what we actually got. The shower flooded and needed a good scrub, the shower head wouldn't stay up making it very difficult to wash your hair. The coffee was not great, unusual for Italy. We found it more of a walk than we... more

A group of four of us have just stayed for 5 nights. The hotel is small and family run. We were practically waited on hand and foot. Nothing was too much trouble. The bedrooms are a bit dated but very clean and same with the bathrooms. The way you are looked after far more than makes up for the coffee... more

We have just stayed in the hotel, we found the location to be really good, only 15 min walk into the old town. the restaurant attatched to the hotel is good ,great fish, pizzas and steak. The restaurant is owned by the same family, the staff are welcoming and very polite. We stayed in a room on the front ,we were informed... more

Like the last reviewer we found the Villa Piras to be a real discovery. It is also real in another sense - being a family run hotel with owners who really care about their guests. We stayed at three other hotels during our time in Alghero and ( as in the case of the Alma and Angedras) for all their... more

My wife and I and three friends took a last minute holiday not really knowing what to expect from Sardinia. Because of online booking difficulties we found the Hotel Villa Piras via the Tourist Information Office in Alghero and booked in by telephone. A cab was arranged by Sandro, a very helpful night porter (with excellent English) for our pickup... more

The hotel itself was fine, the room generous in size but poor in decor. Not sure if the owners are planning to turn the room into a self catering but there were utensils in the room and a sink unit but no water from the taps. There is a pipe under the sink and one would assume its to turn... more

Have just returned from a week long stay at Villa Piras with my partner. We found the hotel to be true to the website - clean, simple and friendly. Although there were only two of us, we had a family suite with two bedrooms, one with a small balcony. Our bedroom was spacious with simple furniture and comfortable beds -... more

My girlfriend & I booked a double room at this hotel 5 months in advance but upon arriving we were told we had to have a twin room. The twin room was very small and our beds couldn't be pushed together. Coffee at breakfast was the worst I have tasted in Italy. Its a 20 min scenic walk into the... more

We've just returned from Villa Piras and had a truly wonderful and memorable time. The hotel was excellent and Alghero is a charming town with many excellent restaurants. Although the breakfasts may not be to everyone's liking, it is always possible to pick up a few items in a supermarket. The Villa Piras restaurant (beside the hotel) is not owned... more

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Villa Piras this early May, and had a lovely time! Sandro, the evening manager, spoke English very well, and was very friendly and helpful. We used Alghero as a base to explore some of the area. The drive down to Bosa was spectacular, and the town of Bosa itself is quite beautiful, and... more
