Few minutes walk from water taxis both on the canal and open sea at Ft Nuove and great shopping street of Strada Nova with local Bacaris down the alleyways. We slept so well as the hotel is in a very small side street. Even better was the ambience with other guests as the hotel offered free tea/coffee with biscuits through... More

Recently stayed at the Una hotel in Venice for a 3 night stay. Hotel was easy to find from the Fonda nove vaporetto stop straight from the airport, only a 5 minute walk. In our opinion the best way to get to Venice is by boat, we got the bus back and although cheaper and quicker, not as nice, but... More

Nice hotel, rooms are small and basic. Small restuarant too, breakfast pretty standard. We never eat here. One thing that was nice was complimentary drinks and fruit in the afternooon. Staff were very friendly and helped a lot. Best thing about this hotel was its location and it was reasonable in price.

We wanted a quiet hotel away from the noise and bustle of the main tourist areas, and yet within easy reach of them. The Una Hotel was just perfect. Located in the Cannareggio district, it is in a very quiet street beside a canal a couple of minutes walk south of the Fondamente Nove waterbus terminal, a minute away from... More

Immaculately clean hotel & hospitable friendly staff . Could not have asked for more. Will definately return ...the location was excellent, the complimentary buffet & snacks were a lovely gesture ... of course some people abuse it but we really appreciated it. Our room & the hotel furnishings were all beautiful .

A wonderful, small hotel situated in a quite location yet close enough to all the major attractions Venice has to offer and only a short walk from the water taxi stop direct from the airport. Rooms are small but have everything you would need (the suites are much larger). Breakfast is superb with eggs, bacon and sausages as well as... More

We stayed in this hotel for four nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very easy to find from the Cà d’Oro vaporetto stop, simply work across the main street and down the one opposite you that has a 'Pylon' store on the corner. Its worth using Google to complete a streeview of the front of the hotel... More

Exceptionally impressed with this delightful hotel in a great location. Close to everything, next to a canal, but in a quiet area just off the beaten track. Our family party, which included an 80 year old, all loved the hotel and intend to go back. Breakfast was brilliant and the free wine in the early evening...well what more could you... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with the hotel. The location was good - walking distance to everything (but that's Venice!). Has it's own water taxi stop, very quiet location. We had a lovely suite with Canal views which easily accommodated our family of 2 adults and 3 children. Service was great, and the highlight for... More

Wow, what a find! Our family of four (two kids ages 9 and 7) stayed here and it was perfect. Quiet location, but just a five minute walk to shops and restaurants and water taxi. We had a large room with loft and two full bathrooms. Beautiful, clean, so comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious with options including rolls, cheese, cereal,... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
