We spent three nights in this hotel with my wife and we absolutely loved it. Some friends were also in this hotel during the trip. Even though they did not have a room as nice as ours , we all appreciated the high level of service and the very friendly and helpful staff. We went there a month ago ,... More

Amanzing Hotel. Really near to most attractions and absolutly easy to reach from the train station (even if you're carrying heavy luggage). The room 502 is great and comfy with a view to the canal, The personal is friendly and willing to make you feel like home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

This hotel was beautiful and clean, I was amazed at the number of toiletries that were provided, including manicure necessities, toothbrushes, sewing kit, purse size tissues, shoe buffing kit, etc. The location is excellent and the staff was great.

We travelled with our 10 year old daughter in April 2014 and was happy with the space and location of the hotel. It had a king bed and an extra double sofa couch and the room was still not too cramped. Good for families. Very clean. We took the train from Florence to Venice which is a great travel option.... The UNA is a hidden gem with superb service from the very friendly English speaking staff. The buffet breakfast is a real treat with scrambled egg and crispy bacon in addition to a range of cold choices. It is just a short walk from one of the main shopping streets and the Grand Canal and just 15-20 from the Rialto... More

This place was a real treat. We had quite a large comfortable room with balcony but that's probably because we had our daughter in the room. Very accommodating staff, the afternoon tea was a nice surprise and the evening wine, although it didn't particularly taste nice. The only downside is the breakfast/tea room is really small so you are having... More

Recently spent 2 nights at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is beautiful, quiet and close to the Rialto Bridge. The rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast included a wide variety of choices, and the afternoon complimentary snacks from 2:30-9:00 was a welcome surprise. Wine was also included in this buffet and definitely a nice way to take... Few minutes walk from water taxis both on the canal and open sea at Ft Nuove and great shopping street of Strada Nova with local Bacaris down the alleyways. We slept so well as the hotel is in a very small side street. Even better was the ambience with other guests as the hotel offered free tea/coffee with biscuits through... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
