Beautiful B&B! We actually found it quite easily, because we remembered to take note of the house number, and also because we followed the map provided on the B&B's website (note that the location given on Google Maps is wrong). It's fairly easy to find after getting off the water bus. You should message or call the proprietor when you're... More

We stayed at this B&B for three days last March. We were in the Vavaldi room, and I think this is the best room with a long balcony and floor to ceiling windows/doors directly overlooking a busy canal (Many gondola during the day) Furnishings are out of another time, the hosts were very friendly, and the location is unexcelled....True, the... I had a surprisingly lovely stay in this lovely, quiet little 18th century place with a fantastic view to a canal. Althoug very simple room with little accommodations, the room was clean, staff was very friendly, the espresso machine provided lovely little 'doppios' to go with the balcony view overlooking the passing-by gondolas. The location of the place was absolutely... More

I booked it through www.bbplanet.it ALSO: B&B's do not have signage in Venice. It took me a long time to find it...only because the hotel staff sent me directions the day before my arrival instead of a couple weeks in advance. OK...If you communicate with the staff be aware that they are not on the premises 24/7...I did not know... More

We were VERY disappointed with this B&B. When you look at its website, it looks nice. It's very well located too. But that's all. We got the Vivaldi bedroom. On the website, they announce: "The bedroom is provided with air-conditioning, TV and safe and its comfortable bathroom has a bathtub or shower and a hair dryer." They make you believe... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
