So far not a good experience!! Customer service: bad; breakfast: bad; room; sub-standard for being a 4 star - feels more like a 2 star motel; cleanliness: 1 star; building appearance and style: 4 stars... So much more could be done to make this place an awesome experience, but it seems like the staff and probably management just don't care... More

We had a lovely stay here. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We went for the upgrade of the room, it was lovely and roomy. Venician style which made it interesting! The breakfast is lovely, hot breakfast is limited in choice but plenty of fruit and fresh pastries/bread. Would recommend staying here! Oh and the jacuzzi style bath was... More

We arrived by train and took the water shuttle Line 1 to Saint Angelo. The tickets (EUR 7 per person) could be bought from the Information center, and city maps were available free of charge. This hotel was difficult to find, but locals were friendly to help with direction. Once we understood the map, we realized how close we were... More

After arriving from the airport by water taxi, we made our way back to the hotel not knowing what to expect. The location is very convenient to everything, good restaurants and St. Marks Square. The inside reminds you of an old Italian home, complete with the Murano glass chandeliers every where. Our room was small but clean and the bed... More

We booked this hotel back in December for 1 night only, was our first time in Venice and I choose to book a hotel central so we could easily walk around. This hotel is just perfect, the location is really good and the hotel it self look like a luxury 5 star (maybe no from the outside, but the inside... More

Very quaint hotel, right in the centre of Venice. Truly great location for all the major sites, 1 minute walk from a small but nice bar/restaurant (Caffe Brasilia) 3 minute walk from Teatro Fenice, 15 to St Marks Square, 17/20 to Rialto Bridge. The hotel was warm (it was cold and rainy when we were there in late March) with... More

We spent four days in Venice and our stay in Ca Alvise was the perfect place to enjoy of the magic of the essence of this precious city, close to San Marcos, La Accademia, and of course close to The Fenice.

We arrived in Venice. The 'walking instructions ' we got from the net were invaluable. It's so easy to get lost in Venice !!!!. We received a lovely welcome at the hotel and were shown to our room. They are all individual in the Italian style. Very comfortable, clean with all you need. All the bathrooms have jacuzzi baths, very... More

We stayed here for a long weekend and loved this hotel, it had everything we needed at an affordable price. Location is excellent, lots of lovely bars and restaurants nearby, some just seconds away, yet the hotel is in a very peaceful area. Easy walking distance to all the main sights too. I can see why some people might find... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
