Very quaint hotel, right in the centre of Venice. Truly great location for all the major sites, 1 minute walk from a small but nice bar/restaurant (Caffe Brasilia) 3 minute walk from Teatro Fenice, 15 to St Marks Square, 17/20 to Rialto Bridge. The hotel was warm (it was cold and rainy when we were there in late March) with... More

We spent four days in Venice and our stay in Ca Alvise was the perfect place to enjoy of the magic of the essence of this precious city, close to San Marcos, La Accademia, and of course close to The Fenice.

We arrived in Venice. The 'walking instructions ' we got from the net were invaluable. It's so easy to get lost in Venice !!!!. We received a lovely welcome at the hotel and were shown to our room. They are all individual in the Italian style. Very comfortable, clean with all you need. All the bathrooms have jacuzzi baths, very... More

We stayed here for a long weekend and loved this hotel, it had everything we needed at an affordable price. Location is excellent, lots of lovely bars and restaurants nearby, some just seconds away, yet the hotel is in a very peaceful area. Easy walking distance to all the main sights too. I can see why some people might find... More

At the beginning of the trip, we were served by wonderful service from the reception and the concierge. We were group of 4 and stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. They helped us bringing our luggages and provide great explanation and recommendation on the area. On the last day of our trip, we had to leave at 5am to... More

The best part was the bath tub which was surprisingly a jacuzzi and with all that walking around in venice a hot jacuzzi is just what you need before you get tucked in. The hotel staff was very helpful and even fixed me a nice drink in the night. The rooms are well done with traditional venetian flair. There was... More

We enjoyed this hotel and were happy with our choice. It was in a great location- we did take a water taxi for fear of not finding it (typical of Venice) We had three rooms- all with traditional venetian flair including the Murano glass lighting. All of the bathrooms were updated, good hot water and clean. Breakfast had a very... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
