My wife booked a surprise four day trip to Venice for my 50th Birthday and booked us into the Hotel Ca' Alvise. I can only say we were delighted with this hotel. Such friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. Our room was spacious and lovely. The bed comfortable and the bathroom large with a spa bath and shower. On arrival on... More

Fantastic location, large rooms, well furnished, friendly helpful staff! Breakfast was good too! The Murano chandeliers were fantastic and the whole place had a comfy warm feeling! Highly recommended!

This hotel is centrally located and relatively easy to find. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were generous in size with comfortable beds and pillows. The ensuite was lovely with great hot running showers and also a spa bath although I couldn't get the jets to work. The breakfast buffet was impressive with everything you could... More

Ca'Alvise is a good hotel in the middle of those mazes street of venice, nice place with a gothic stile, 24 hrs reception, very good room, air conditioning, excellent breakfast. Location couldn't be better, walking distance from most famous places. It's clean and safe, would recommend for sure.

Perfect hotel for a long weekend away with the other half. Fantastic location and price. No lift.. so what? Venice is meant for walking, if you cant walk up the stairs without complaining dont go to Venice! Excellent staff very helpful, nice room interior (although slightly dated) and breakfast is nothing special. Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel!

Room size was fantastic for 4 people - it was a very beautiful, antique-looking room; the room had a splitter so you could separate it. Bathroom was large and modern. I don't really like hotels that force guests to keep the keys at the desk - sometimes this is inconvenient. the location of the hotel itself is great and very... More

We also stayed in room 102 and thought the rooms size was great and it also had a large bathroom that appeared quite modern. The bedroom itself was very antique in appearance, it almost looked dirty but never mind, it wasn't. There are no stairs in this building. I don't recall seeing that on their website but it wasn't a... More

Very quaint little hotel. We had room 102. Large and comfortable. Wet room was also large. No milk on arrival but rang reception and a jug was bought up. Room seemed very hot. Our friends were on 3rd floor and found it unbearably hot. Breakfast was disappointing if you wanted cooked food. Scrambled egg wasn't very nice. No issues with... More

It's location is perfect for exploring the San Marco area of Venice. We had a large quad room for a family of 4 with a jacuzzi bath. The room decor was nice in the Venetian style with comfortable beds and the area quite at night so just what we wanted. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The only... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
