we definitely recommend this beautiful small hotel. The amenities were modern and the king sized bed was comfortable. We booked the spacious junior suite (overlooking the canal) for 4 nights and loved every minute. Even though it is a little off the main tourist area it was nice and quiet and we had great fun exploring the streets of venice.... More

We stayed 4 nights in this very charming small hotel in Veneza, very well located and just in the Canal Grande. Very easy to get there by water taxi, or even at the St Thomas vaporeto stop. All rooms have big windows that face or the Grande Canal or the small canal, therefore you can hear the water sounds from... More

We are on our 4th night here at Palazza Barbarigo and would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Venice. Well located, you can walk anywhere in just a few minutes, or for the less energetic, there are water buses very close by. The staff at Palazza Barbarigo are very helpful and accomodating. They made great recommendations for dining,... More

We stayed at the Barbarigo for the last part of our honeymoon. Along with it's prime location on the Grand Canal, the hotel is also one of the rare properties in Venice with updated interiors and amenities. The staff is welcoming and extremely helpful with all your needs. Our Room (#7) was on the ground floor with windows that opened... More

We spent three nights here at the hotel palazzo barbarigo situated on the canal. We had a suite on the first floor. Great boutique feel hotel, high quality furnishings finished to a high standard. Great service, the staff were very helpful.ideally situated to discover Venice. Look forward to a return trip.

have just spent 5 days at this lovely hotel. it is very special and I highly recommend it, I do agree with some other people who say that lighting is an issue, but it was only the bathrooms, other than that I loved it. A perfect spot on the Grand Canal.

We stayed here for three nights at the tail end of our honeymoon and we had a fabulous time. Valentina was especially helpful with anything we needed. We had a suite that overlooked the grande canal (room 7 on the main floor) and the room was spacious and very nice. We didn't hear any noise from other rooms or the... More

Stayed here for a few nights and really enjoyed myself. I loved the little terrace on the canal that you can sit on and have breakfast. Our room was very clean and provided everything we needed. When I return to Venice I would stay here again.

My Husband and I visited Venice for our 40th Wedding Anniversary and chose Hotel Palazzo Barbarigo for our stay. This is a small boutique hotel, tastefully decorated. The staff were amazing, very friendly and very accommodating, Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room overlooked The Grand Canal which was lovely. Breakfast was either continental style or staff were... More

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful hotel for our first trip to Venice last week. Even before we arrived, we were treated as valued guests as we called and asked for walking directions. When we arrived, we were given a map and personal recommendations for the best places to eat, see off the beaten path sights and the... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
