We were greeted off the water taxi as we arrived and our cases were taken straight to our room which was on the ground floor. Being a classic room it was a little on the small side with only one chair. A window overlooked one of the smaller canals and we were able to watch the comings and goings of... More

As this was our first trip to Venice I wanted to stay in a classic Palazzo overlooking a canal. The trouble was that all the hotels I looked at that matched this description were either ridiculously expensive, or the decor looked like it was last updated in the 1950s. Then I happened upon Palazzo Barbarigo. It looked too good to... More

As I write this we are still at the hotel for a few more days however as I am so impressed I felt I had to put pen to paper. Over many many years of international travel it still remains a surprise when I find myself in a hotel that stands out from the rest. Although We have been in... More

Just returned from a wonderful trip in Venice staying at the boutique Palazzo Barbarigo. The hotel is calm, elegant and stylish and the staff were wonderful in all areas, especially on reception and throughout our stay we were shown wonderful hospitality and kindness. We stayed in a suite overlooking the Grand Canal, and the room was a very good size... More

If you are looking for this type of hotel and like the look of the decor then you should be very happy. The decor is stylish but dark and the hotel well run and and well maintained. Staff were very helpful and recommended some excellent places to eat. We really enjoyed being on the Grande Canal as there is always... More

The hotel location is just fine , out of the crowded center of Venice , but just at the right location to walk around the city. The rooms are fine, maybe a little minimalist in term of furniture , but it looks like that's the concept- the staff is just adorable, helpful and professional. Maybe the service breakfast time could... More

Stayed here April 10th-13th with another a couple for 3 nights in a Junior Suite with a view on the Grand Canal. Previously had stayed in this hotel 4 years ago and everything was every bit as good as our previous visit. We had a small problem on checking in when one of the junior suites i had booked online... We booked on line for two adults and two children through booking.com. A couple of days later, we called the hotel itself to check that the booking was received and all was well. They told us that they had cancelled the booking as the room was not a junior suite, suitable for a family. We were surprised that the booking... More

Dear Mrs Victoria C. we feel the need to clarify some points: 1) A four-beds room has never been bookable as we do not have any room able to host 4 people. Anyway, we double checked with the team of Booking.com and we have verified you booked just a Classic double room. There was not any error which could make... More

A beautiful hotel in a great location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, I cannot fault any of the service we received. The room was very well presented, clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again if I return to Venice.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2015

My wife and I stayed a few nights at this boutique hotel in early March. I did quite a lot of research on tripadvisor before our trip to secure the best hotel that we could afford and would provide a view of the Grand Canal. I'd say we were happy with this choice. We stayed in a Jr. Suite (Room... More

Dear Luke, First of all thank you for your very nice review, (and for your criticism about the WIFI connection: you’re right but it will be finally fixed on the next days) Palazzo Barbarigo have a strong characterization: we are proud of it and we understand if it can not please everyone, anyway we are grateful to all our guests. Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
