Once you stay here, you'll feel so much at home, that you'll never want to go back where you came from. Lorenzo the host was efficient, punctual & very quick at responding. The place is hard to find, just like all places in Venice, but Lorenzo made sure he was present at the ferry port to receive us & take... More

We loved this place! We occupied two of the rooms and both were a nice size and very comfortable. The B&B is close to everything and Lorenzo is a very nice host and very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and would not hesitate to return here.

This is a lovely B&B conveniently located within a few minutes walk of San Marco, but far enough away that it quiet and restful. Lorenzo is an excellent host - he met us at the San Zaccaria dock on our arrival, provided us with useful information on what to see and how to get around and was at breakfast every... More

Excellent location about 5 min walk from San Marco or 5 min to San Zaccaria vaparetto dock. Clean, comfortable bed in large room & good shower. Lorenzo enjoys his B&B and hosting his guests. Each morning as he serves breakfast he helps you plan your day. He has invaluable information on all the sites and other islands. BTW house is... More

I happened to know about this B&B when I read Frommer's easy guide to Venice. All the reviews here in Tripadvisor are real. It is a good base to explore Venice with its proximity to St. Mark's square and other tourist spots. It's easy to get lost in Venice with its confusing layout. Lorenzo is very helpful in giving us... Amazing stay in Venice. This B&B was beautiful, clean, and convenient. But what put it over the top was Lorenzo. He was very helpful in making dinner reservations and recommending little places to eat. He was also helpful in providing directions on a map for our daily activities. Venice is NOT an easy place to find things so Lorenzo's help... More

What an amazing place to stay - location is perfect, well appointed rooms, super clean and all at an affordable price. And of course the main asset of this place is the owner Lorenzo. He met us early morning when it was pouring rain and let us keep the bags until the room was ready. Lorenzo was also very helpful... More

We needed somewhere to stay for a weekend break in Venice and found Ai Tagliapietra on Tripadvisor. As so many other reviewers have noted, Lorenzo is such as great host and so helpful. The location of the B&B is perfect for exploring Venice being only a few minutes walk from St.Marks Square and the water front. The room we stayed... More

My husband & I had a comfortable stay @ Lorenzo's B & B for two nights. 1. Location - The location was really great, it was strategically located near the heart of Venice which is the Cathedral and the plaza, just need to walk few metres and voila! --you can see the piazza & basilica. For first timers, it was... More

Lorenzo is an awesome host who meets you at the dock to escort you to his place. Good thing because we would never have found it on our own, through all of the winding streets. Comfortable, modern accommodations, with excellent wifi. Lorenzo's suggestions for the best gelato were spot on - inexpensive and delicious. Great map provided, so we always... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
