Stayed here for 3 nights and Giorgio was there to greet us on the main floor. The room was clean, well kept, comfortable and has a kitchenette. It's well stocked with fruits, bread, cold cuts, cheese and even a pie! 10 minute walk to St Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge and lots of good eats. Easy access to two vaporetto stops.... More

We stayed here for three nights in July. The B&B is lovely, very clean and is close to everything. Our fridge was restocked every day with cheese, ham, and other breakfast items which we cooked on the small stove. On arrival we were provided with a map detailing some of the best places to eat in the area. Would definitely... More

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at the Santo Stefano B&B. It was our first trip to Venice and we weren't really sure which areas would be best to stay in, but after reading the reviews for this place we decided to book. Giorgio called the day after I booked, to ask if... More

We stayed at Giorgio's B&B for 3 nights in September 2014. It was the perfect place for a couple. The room was a spacious studio apartment with a separate entrance from Giorgio's apartment. We took a vaparetto which had a stop only a 5 minute walk from the apartment if you don't get lost. We only got lost initially finding... More

First visit to Venice (3 nights in June 2014) and we were delighted to stay in this cosey, clean and neat apartment. Breakfast enough for 4 people, let alone 2!! Special baked pie at our arrival was a nice thought! Cleaned every day and Giorgio was friendly, helpful and very professional. Apartrment central but not noisy at all. Aircon in... More

We stayed at Santo Stefano B&B for our honeymoon. We were there for 9 nights and used Bologna as our home base for day trips around Italy. The B&B was very nice: modern, clean, amazing breakfast, friendly staff, good location and great price. We were very impressed with the room, the bed was very comfortable, it had air conditioning and... More

We really lucked out with this place as I didn't really know anything about Venice when I booked and based my decision on price. The location is perfect for exploring, right in the heart of the San Marco region, easy walking to all the main sites and close to the Academia bridge. Lots of restaurants and bars in the vicinity... We are just back after 3 night stay at Santo Stefano B&B and had a wonderful time. Giorgio the owner of the apartment was there to meet us on our arrival and was extremely helpful with advice on where to eat and how to get around. We were able to leave our luggage when the room was being cleaned and... More

My wife and I have just arrived back from a great 3 nights in Venice (May 2013). We stayed at this fantastic little gem of a B&B in the heart of the San Marco region of Venice, situated minutes away from Accademia Bridge. The location is fabulous to explore the whole of Venice. The B&B is clean and comfortable, good... More

We chose well! This B&B was exactly what we wanted and more! The position is great, close to everything but in a quiet more authentic area, and totally silent at night. Georgia the host could not be more helpful, the room is very comfortable, the kitchen tiny but very usable and the supplies unbelievably generous. Each day we were supplied... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
