We booked this hotel with the understanding it would have AC, as many websites and reviewers stated. However, we received a room without any AC in the middle of July. The room also seemed to be in the warmest part of the building. We could feel it get warmer and warmer as we walked to our room from the nice... More

Dear Guest, We have to contradict you. You booked through an Expedia partner, and we are sure that those rooms do not have the air conditioned guaranteed. Anyhow the next year all the rooms will have the air conditioned. Thanks anyway for your review More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2015 via mobile

Stayed here for a week. Group of 8 persons. We had 1 single, 1 triple and 1 quad rooms. Easy access from Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia(train station) etc. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was included but nothing to write home about. It is however ample to get you going. I stayed in a single room. Would have preferred a double bed,... More

Stayed at this quiet and friendly place for a couple of days. Liked the neighborhood and appreciated that the hotel is not located in the centre of buzzling touristic Venice. The hotel was a monastry, and there are friendly nuns and old furniture and it feels like being young again and on a school excursion. The place is sparkling clean... More

This is a very quaint little hotel. Clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. Our room looked out on a little garden. The nuns served us coffee in the morning. This hotel has character. The location is okay, but still about a thirty minute walk from St. Mark's square (forty five minutes if you get lost). Beware, it is a... More

Set in a group of religious buildings, one of which used to be the nuns’ quarters. Quaint and charming place to stay that gets you in the mood to be in Venice. It is on a quiet side street by the canal and rooms at the back faces the garden and the greenery of the surrounding neighborhood. Location: Very good,... More

Stayed with wife and two small kids. Stay was great. Nice clean room and fascilities. BUT BEWARE - ITS VERY difficult to find even from the nearby bus station. PLEASE do take all possible directions and tips to reach. We tool an hour roaming around before a friendly porter helped us out. Venice shop owners are terribly unhelpful with directions... More

I stayed in a single room with a shared bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was warm and comfortable. I would stay here again. The best way to describe would be 'religious hostel.'

I would like to give a glowing review to Casa Caburlotto in Venice. The facilities were spotless. The staff was very helpful with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations . (Don't go to St Mark's square on the weekend.) The heat was on. (Which was more that we could say for our 5 star hotel in Rome). The most important thing I... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
