the nice young man had a warm welcome for us and introduced us to most interesting places and gave us general tips for restaurant areas and lovely places. The rooms are older, but nice, very affordable, with thick towels, some bathroom stuff like soaps and creams... The breakfast was good for the price: greek yogurt, fresh croissants, on Sunday a... Great location; Be aware of late check-in (after 5pm) fees We stayed at Ca Loredan for 2 nights last weekend. This hotel is located just 2 mins walk from Rialto ferry stop, 3 mins walk from Rialto bridge and 5 mins walk from San Marco. Can’t ask for a better location. Marco (who manages the hotel) contacted us the day... More

Quaint little place with basic necessities for a short stay. The BnB is located very close to the Rialto stop, about 4mins walk (more if you're lugging a huge luggage). It is a very short distance from San Marco square. Great choice if you're planning on a short stay in venice. Marco (owner of the BnB) was very friendly and... More

I am giving this rate only because the owner try and try so hard, but he has such a long way to go. Great location steps from Rialto Bridge, where the owner should wait for each guess since it is confusing to find the B&B. He has three rooms on the third floor walk up and renovations are in progress.... More

A pleasant, quaint B&B-type hotel in the San Marco district, Ca' Loredan is decent value-for-money in a very expensive city. The owner (and apparently sole-operator) Marco seems like a lovely guy and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and at-home. Small touches like the warm croissants and cappuccinos at breakfast are great, as is the easy... More

Why pay more? Only slept at the B&B, so did not need anything more as we went out everyday to discover Venice. Owner (Marco) is very helpful and friendly. Room is basic but with all that you need. Our room was a nice size, clean and the aircon helped a lot. Bathroom was clean and towels were supplied. As we... More

The room: I think they have never ever cleaned under the bed. We found shoes, toiletpaper, dust, dirt... DISGUSTING!! The minibar: Not filled. Made a loud noise, impossible to sleep with. The bathroom: It uses a saniguard system. So what can u expect: a machine that makes a loud noice when u shower or brush your teeth. It smelled terrible!... More

Don't be put off when you arrive at ths establishment which is just an austere brown door on a narrow alley. Once in side, you climb two floors on a dimly lit stairway to find a very pleasant boutique style bed and breakfast establishment. You enter on the third floor into a small bright breakfast / sitting area and from... More

We stayed at this B&B in October 2011 for 4 nights. If you go to Venice you have to keep in mind that accommodation is expensive as it is a tourist hub. We travelled as a couple and decided to stay at this B&B as it was within our budget albeit on the high side. The B&B is basic but... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
