We stayed for 3 nights at the San Sebastiano and have only good comments and praise. Everyone was very friendly and helpful even sorting out our water taxi which failed to arrive on time., Room overlooking the canal was first class, complete with free WI - FI. Very well positioned for visiting all the attractions within walking distance and plenty... More

Junior suite was very spacious airy and had a decent canal view. Hotel location is good. Clean and beautiful property and friendly management. However if you are British, you might miss not having round the clock tea/coffee making facilities in or outside room.

A peaceful hotel around the corner from the vaporetto stop making it easy to get to all destinations. Plenty of good restaurants close by. Friendly staff. Free wifi with excellent speed. Well recommended.

Quiet and comfortable not far from the San basilio vaporetta stop which gave good access to all locations. Easy to walk in to accademia and beyond. Decent restaurants on the doorstep and 24 hour reception. Garden great to relax in with wine or tea before heading on to the town at night. Have recommended it to friends.

I was surprised at the size of our room...it was quite large, especially compared to the one we stayed at to accommodate our early flight at the end of our stay. The bathroom in our room here was bigger than that hotel room (Side note about bathroom: it had a bathtub with a handheld showerhead, a toilet, sink, and bidet).... More

This hotel is about as far from a chain hotel as you can get which is exactly what we were looking for. It is a good 4* standard with very helpful staff. We had a large well furnished room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. The room was spotlessly clean and the one small problem we had in the... More

My daughter and I enjoyed our visit here. It is a characterful district, full of busy local activity, and with plenty of good restaurants around. The gardens are a quiet retreat from the bustle of Zattere, and the rooms very comfortable. The breakfast is the usual continental affair, but you are so close to good cafes that all you need... Check my other reviews and you will see that I am normally pretty generous with my reviews but this place was the worst room I have every stayed in. I had booked this hotel and the reviews from TA were fantastic and we were really looking forward to our stay here. We checked in and made our way to our... More

Dear Guest, we are really sorry for the problems you pointed out regarding your room. This is the first time we have this kind of review on that room which is usually appreciated. The Classic room you had with a discounted rate is equipped with a ‘queen size’ bed having a very comfortable mattress and is also equipped with a... More

After a couple of niggles on the first day (soon efficiently sorted out), this hotel turned out a real delight. A few minutes walk from the busy tourist areas, it was close to restaurants and the waterbus. Staff were friendly and helpful,

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
