After a couple of niggles on the first day (soon efficiently sorted out), this hotel turned out a real delight. A few minutes walk from the busy tourist areas, it was close to restaurants and the waterbus. Staff were friendly and helpful,

This cracking little hotel is in a brilliant location, very quiet but 5 minutes walk from the more touristy sights. We stayed in room 14 which was gorgeous , painted with murals on the wall like an old villa, very spacious, with a large window looking out onto the garden. Wifi was very good. The breakfast was fine for us... More

Warm welcoming hotel with very helpful staff. Free upgrade affording canal view on arrival. The garden was a quite spot but the weather a little too cold to enjoy it. Breakfast was varied enough to please everyone (my husband is gluten intolerant). Church opposite was a delight. Local restaurants were able to cater to our needs, and the supermarket on... More

Just returned from 3 days in this beautiful hotel. It is well positioned on the Dorsoduro a couple of minute from a vaporetto stop. Charming staff, clean well appointed rooms and delicious continental breakfast. Will definitely return to this hotel.

Nice hotel to explore Venice. To get there you can take a waterbus to the San basilio. The ticket from train or waterbus station cost 7 euros. The room is very spacious, bed is very comfy. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a buffet style with choices of cereals, biscuits, cheese. To get to San Marco ask... More

We visited the last weekend of carnival to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. We arrived at the hotel by private water taxi. We knew it would be expensive but it was worth it as we had been travelling all day and it took us straight to the door of the hotel. First impressions were good, bearing in mind it was... More

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely canal side hotel. The service is very good here and the building has a historic feel to it. The large room overlooking the canal looks very nice. We had a smaller room next to it, with floor that was sagging slightly. It was a bit of tight quarters for my husband and I.... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
