The reason I selected this hotel was because of the price and location. .. This hotel is difficult to find. I recommend buying a SIM card at the airport or train station and paying the 30 euro one month of data. . This will make navigating Venice 100% easier. Serious this is the biggest recommendation I can make for Venice.... More

The location is very good once you know how to find it. We had to ask around because it is pretty hard to find. It's 5 minutes walk or less to San Marco's square. The most troubling part of our trip happened in this hotel. We returned to our room for our 2nd pit-stop after exploring the city, and our... More

Stayed here for 2 days.. got there at 10 pm at nite.. first time in Venice.. was a nightmare to find... Google maps saved us. when arrived they were very polite.. no problems with them as far as their customer service.. My complaints are mosquito's everywhere.. both nites we were there we made it a point to close the windows... More

Quaint and small accommodation (only 5 rooms) but extremely well located between Rialto and St Marc Square, near Campo Manin. We had the largest room, accommodating 4 adults which is rare to find. Great value and very nice people. Loved the views on the canal with free entertainment from gondolas and singers.

Please note that this place is difficult to find if you don't pay attention. I used Google Maps on my iPhone and found it without any problems but there were a couple turns that could have made things difficult. My advice is to take the water bus to Rialto and walk from there. The hotel has a very vintage look... More

If your budget for visiting Venice with your kids is limited, than this is the place to go. The location is great - 10-15min from St. Marco Square, 2min from a small supermarket, 5 min from from the Rialto bridge and vaporetto stop. We had the quadruple room - 135euros/night and they were worth it. For our 2 kids -... More

- Very clean, very helpful staff (the don't speak very well english but they try!) - Room bed and pillows were ok. One bad thing: This is a building and the family lives there, and they have kids, the rooms are below the house, so you have earthquakes when the kids run.

Great location for good price. Definitely we will be back! Be ready there is no breakfast here, no fridge and tv even, but most time in venice you should spend open aired! Now venice is one of my favourite and must visit cities!

I spent 2 nights in this hotel. The staff were extremely rude, not welcoming at all. They tried to charge us twice and almost kicked us out in the street late at night for their own mistake... glad I kept the receipt of the first payment... But they'd never apologized! Hotel very basic and expensive.

It took us a long while to find this place - not to say it isn't in a good location, just that there really isn't clear directions to get there. It is right next to the Contarini del Bovolo Staircase. We also waited quite a while for someone to answer the door bell. After all that, room is well set... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
