The building is beautiful and near many wonderful sights as well as an easy walk to some charming "less" touristic squares and great restaurants. The vaporetto stop is next to the hotel which makes it very convenient to get to other areas. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. There is an attractive terrace facing the Grand Canal where you have... More

We had the pleasure to stay at Palazzo Stern with our 9 months old Boy, it was purely fantastic. The staff was magnificent in every way, the room just fabulous, the service unbelievably good and the breakfast just delicious. For us there is no better way to stay in Venice. Right at the Canale Grande where in the day life... More

My husband stayed at Hotel Palazzo Stern for 2 nights before we departed Italy at the end of our trip. I have to say the hotel was absolutely stunning. The décor and feel of the hotel was simply old world charm. We had a room with a window overlooking the Grande Canal - which was very comfortable. The bath was... More

Being with a small group of friends staying at one hotel or being just a couple, (in which case we were both) we found this the perfect place to stay on the Grand Canal. The rooms are perfect - we did not have a shower, but were ok with that. The staff could not have been more helpful and personable.... More

I have finally found the perfect combination of history, modern facilities, top location, price and helpful staff in Palazzo Stern. The terrace on the Grand Canal on the Dorsoduro side was wonderful for breakfast, early evening prosecco and all day to relax and catch your breath while watching Venice's daily life on the water go by. Our deluxe triple room... More

Located near the Accademia on the Grand Canal with a great location, this hotel offered luxury accommodations without the indulgent services of hotels, which are twice the price. Guest rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding. No restaurant service, but nearby restaurants do not make that an issue. The front desk and bell staff were happy to respond... More

I have now returned to this hotel in Venice about 5 times because I love it so much. The Palazzo is smaller, beautifully restored in detail, and has a variety of unique rooms--most of which overlook the Grand Canal. Within the property, your will find architecture of both Moorish and Christian detail (as I believe the building served as a... More

We chose to stay in the top quiet area. I would recommend staying in the lower floors. They are astoundingly beautiful. The help was amazing. Courteous, classy, and kind. I recommend you sit in the restaurant in the evening and watch the busy canal activity while enjoying a drink. Matteo will serve you and is a wonderful host. I very... More

My husband and I loved the Hotel Palazzo Stern and will happily return to another, slightly larger room the next time we visit Venice. The location right on the Grand Canal with Vaporetto and Ali Laguna stops just a hop from the hotel's entrance couldn't be beat. Palazzo Stern is an elegant gem in Dorsoduro, our favorite sestiere in Venice.

BUongiorno! Thank you for your very nice review. I'm happy to know you enjoyed your stay with us! We have many rooms category, standards are the smaller ones (even if two of them are about 30 square meters) but they are not small at all! The smaller is 16 square meter plus the area of the bathroom. If you need... More

A lovely hotel on the Grand Canal, Dorsoduro side. This location was amazing--close to everything but away from the main tourist crush. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Highly recommend this property!

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
