I feel compelled to write a review for the Hotel Palazzo Stern. This hotel is outstanding. Our stay was perfect from start to finish As anyone who has dragged suitcases around Venice would appreciate, the hotel is directly adjacent to a vaporetto stop. It makes arriving and checking in a breeze. The hotel is beautiful and well-kept. Our room overlooking... More

We have stayed over the years in a range of Venetian hotels - this was probably one of our best experiences. The hotel is in a fantastic situation - adjacent to the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto stop. Access is very easy, with a few steps at the entrance (but with a lift for wheelchair access). In front of the hotel is... More

Great view over the Canale Grande, easy access by foot (next to a River Bus station), very friendly and helpful staff, great room and comfortable beds (not as hard as usual in Italy). You can have breakfast on the terrace directly on the canal and plan your day. If you make all the effort to visit Venice you might want... More

Our travel agent recommended this hotel and we certainly weren't disappointed. There was very warm welcome on our arrival by water taxi from the airport and within an hour we were out at dinner dining in one of the excellent restaurants that had been recommended to us by the hotel staff. Our room was very clean and spacious and sitting... More

We could not find a fault with this hotel. The room was superb, overlooking the grand canal. The staff are brilliant, and really make an effort to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We emailed them to arrange transport from the airport late the night before we were due to arrive, but Fabio organised a car and... More

We stayed here for two nights in April. It is a superb hotel within easy reach of the water transport from the airport. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It must be one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in. It is located in a lovely area of Venice slightly away from the more touristy areas. I... More

Very well maintained building (not too many of them in Venice). The hotel is beautiful outside and inside. The hotel is situated perfectly on Grand Canal. The water bus station right outside, close enough to main attractions. We walked back from St Mark's Square and from Realto. We had a Grand Canal view suite, the view was very beautiful. Breakfast... We stayed at Palazzo Stern for 2 nights to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The view of the Grand Canal from the patio is exquisite! The decor and feel of being in a 7th century grand family palazzo is indescribable, but everything we had hoped for on our special trip.

I booked this Hotel as a gift for my Wifes 50th Birthday, it proved to be an excellent choice. Easy access to the water transport on the Grand Canal with a stop located just meters away from the hotel.I would with out doubt stay at the is hotel again if we ever return to Venice.

We stayed at Palazzo Stern for 2 nights - we are a family of 4 and stayed in a Junior Suite on the 2nd Floor. The hotel was perfectly situated - secluded from the hustle and bustle and yet close enough for the distance from Rialto or St. Mark's not to be a bother. The taxi dropped us from the... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
