We chose this location because of it's amazing location, and because my partner had stayed here with friends previously while backpacking Europe. The owner is a wonderful little Italian Nonna, who didn't speak a word of English but who knew how to play charades, and explained everything surprisingly well! She has setup a kitchen full of breakfast and snack items... More

I recommend this place, they were very helpful with our needs. The staff members were very friendly too. Relatively cheap for the area, and close enough to the sites. Great breakfast too, which is very important.

Having never been to Venice my husband and I decided to try a B&B so that we could see the sites and have a good place to come back to. We found Happy Venice and though it was out of the way and a bit difficult to find it was in a quiet and peaceful area great for sleeping. The... More

The term 'palazzo' doesn't quite mean a Palace - in this case we're talking about a venerable two-story block with four rooms on the upper floor, two of which can be rented. This is in a not-quite-so touristy corner of Venice, and is accessible by walking from the Rialto Bridge or (better) by getting off the ferry at San Toma,... More

Cannot recommend this place enough. Accomm in Venice is so expensive but this was a total deal (40-45eu a night) for the central location. Considerate and precise instructions from owners to reach the property. It's in a great area, close to cheaper uni sites and to a vapretto stop - San Toma. Well stocked fridge with breakfast essentials (great coffee... More

We loved this place. Great location and value! Beautiful view of the water from our rom. Everything was spotless, our room (we had the one with the green walls) was decorated nicely. There were robes and slippers and plenty of towels in our room. It was a shared bathroom but was never an issue. The owner was SUPER sweet (she... More

this place, although a little difficult to find, was the highlight of our stay in venice. she doesn't speak a lot of english, and we not a lot of italian, so it was fun communicating with her, there was a lot of laughing. very friendly, and the place was IMMACULATE. our room looked out onto a canal, which was great,... Great location. It's far enough away from the party area of the city that you can sleep without many distractions, but only about a 1/4 mile if you do want to party. It's right on a canal, so it's got a great atomsphere. As other reviews have suggested, it's very homey. You feel like you're staying in a friends extra... More

We were very "happy" with Happy Venice. It's location is near to the Rialto and all the shops. The lady who runs the place is real friendly and helpful. She doesn't speak any English but that didn't really hinder our having a great time. Our room was right on a canal and we enjoyed hearing the boats going buy at... More

This is a simple, lovely home-stay (bed and breakfast) with a very helpful, friendly Venetian woman. The rooms are spotless and well-furnished, as is the bath/shower (down the corridor). It's not a luxury hotel; more like staying with your Italian grandmother (although the friendly woman who runs the place will be very discreet and you may not see her much... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
