AVOID!!!! Should be rated 0. Booked room for 2 nights with confirmation through booking.com. On arrival was told that the reservation had been canceled one week prior and an email had been sent (not to me apparently). He offered no help and no apology...and hung up since there is no reception to have to face the people whose reservation you... More

If you're picking a place to stay then look no further! This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Venice- location, rooms, staff, it's got everything. It's perfect for a romantic stay- we got engaged on the balcony of our room and are looking forward to our fourth visit this August....that says it all!

the hotel is located a 2 minuets walk from the san stai water bus station, There is a direct water bus from that station to the airport, which makes it very comfortable if you have big pieces of luggage with you. It is not close to the train station or the bus station, and it's a 20 minuets walk from... More

The guy at the desk (part owner) was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a bit of a let down compared to the photos but it was big and clean enough and TBH we were only in Venice for 24hrs so weren't planning on spending much time there. Its a good location. We got a boat from the airport... More

Nicola the proprietor is very nice and helpful. He'll carry your bags upstairs, which is lucky because there is no elevator. Our room was small, beautifully decorated but needed some upkeep. The toilet seat was broken by "the previous guest". We had a tiny balcony overlooking a canal, so at least we had something of a view. Breakfast is brought... More

The city of Venice is beautiful but stay far away from this place. Located in a very old building that was renovated into a hotel, the advertisements say view of Venice Canal - NOT, spacious rooms, NOT, WIFI, NOT, large flat screen TV, NOT. The room we got had a 2% slant so I kept sliding out of the bed,... More

My husband and I stayed in this Bed and Breakfast in July last summerafter having to escape another place where the air conditioner was just a dream. From the moment we walked in through the door we felt like we were home. And not just any home, but a Venetian palace;) I was 7 months pregnant, trekking through Italy, and... More

In March, I booked Residenza Al Doge Beato online with my credit card for a 2 night stay in June. Last week, I e-mailed the hotel asking for advice for getting a water taxi in from the hotel. I received a response from the hotel the following day advising me that my booking had been cancelled because the credit card... More

Stayed in Junior Suite with an amazing canal view from the comfort of the bed. Clean spacious room with high ceilings and big bed and breakfast was brought on the dot every morning. Lovely big windows to sit at and absorb the life below on the street. Friendly, informative owner, our stay was very laid back and check-in/out was very... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
