I looked on Tripadvisor for a place to stay in Venice. I came across to this one and after seen the pictures I had to book it straight after. We arrived at the hotel and loved the entrance and the reception. Until the owner shown us our room. The room was so tiny that a double bed was always on... More

This was such a perfect choice! We were a family of 4 and booked a superior canal room. We loved watching the gondolas pass by our window - what an amazing view. I huge plus was the location..never far from all the sights and easy to pop home when you forgot something!

This is a lovely small hotel in a great central Venice location, just a short walk to St Marks square or Rialto bridge. There is not someone there 24/7 but you have keys to come and go as you please which is great. Our room (no 6) was not huge but was had everything you need and was clean. We... More

It was my first time in Venice and I did not want to go wrong choosing a hotel as I wanted the accommodation to complement the Venetian romantic experience and also we had only 2 nights in Venice (01st & 2nd Jan 2015). Despite of my husband’s objections (as he wanted to stay in a 4/5 stars hotel) took us... More

We would definitely recommend this hotel, its location so close to St Marks square was perfect for us. The family run feel made us feel at home and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time exploring Venice. Our room overlooked one of the canals and our three year old lived waving to the many gondolas as they sailed past our window.... More

Stayed here for three nights with two friends for my birthday. Wanted to stay somewhere classically "Venetian" without breaking the bank, and this place was perfect. Great location: close to everything by foot, easy to take the boat taxi to/from the airport, right on the canal. We requested the canal view and I highly recommend it... though on the weekend... This hotel is central to the main attractions in Saint Marks square. Although the rooms are small they are very comfortable. This room has a private ensuite that is clean and feels new. The service is great from the hotel staff and breakfast was outstanding. The Internet was only available in hotel foyer, but works well. This is an excellent and... More

Space is at a premium unsurprisingly and my single room is small but adequate for one person. The location is excellent and central. However it can be noisy with the sound of loud slamming doors though that is not the fault of the hotel. There is a limited but delicious range for brekkie which was not replenished on my first... Hosts Stefano and Valentina are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms with private bath are comfortable, clean and quiet. Location in central Venice is convenient and within walking distance of all attractions, easy to find with map provided by hosts. Breakfasts were excellent and served in the nice facility shown in the photos. We were two senior couples from the western... More

At this fantastic little place, you will be greeted by wonderful, attentive staff, and will have a comfortable room with all you need. The location is the key: right near St Mark's, and right on a canal in many of the gondola routes, you can stumble home after dinner, and sleep to the wonderful soundtrack that Venice offers.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
