We stayed 3 nights in one of the smallest rooms (the place is full quickly) but we enjoyed our stay! The room was on the canal side, bed was comfortable, there was air con in the room (very useful in July), breakfast included and the hotel is centrally located (a few minutes walk from the Rialto, a few minutes walk... The Casa is a good price in a very expensive city, and centrally located to many popular areas. Although lacking in views, our canalside room looked into the windows of another hotel 5' away, but more incentive to get out and see the amazing city. The staff was wonderful, helping us find gluten free restaurants and providing gluten free breakfasts.... More

cantral location. The hotel was just a 3 - 5 minutes walk from San Marco square. The breakfast was ok but i guess very good value for money (especially for the expensive Venice). We were transferred from day 1 to a bed and breakfast room which was superbe ! The vintage interior design , the furniture all of them made... More

I spent a weekend of December in Casa Petrarca. The room was very clean as was the bathroom and the common spaces. Warm, no humidity issues, very (but very) closely located to St. Marco's square. The room was adequately big (8-9 sq. metres maybe??) i.e. perfectly fine for a hotel room. The breakfast was simple but included in the very... More

Fanastic value for money (for Venice) at this wonderful little in. We got the largest room with the view overlooking the canal (Double superior Room) for around 185 EUD/night. The room was clean and spacious and had everything you needed. Nice homely breakfast provided every morning, though not extravagant. Bathrooms are small and cramped but adequate. Location is a big... Okay so it's in Venice. No better location anywhere. Great directions. Very thorough introduction from Valentina. Comfort bed, view intros twisty alley, ambience overloaded. Breakfast quality & quantity deteriorated when the young man was in charge.

I can't say enough nice things about our stay at Casa Petrarca. Check-in was easy even though we got in really late because our hosts emailed us how to access the key from a night drop box. They were very responsive via email and answering our questions. They even emailed us a map of how to find Casa Petrarca before... More

Nice boutique hotel in the center of Venice. Most rooms with canal view not big but clean and cozy. The owners are very friendly, polite and they try to do their best to make you feel comfortable.I recommend it for a nice stay in the very center of Venice.

This is our second time at this hotel and it was the warmth and friendliness of Valentina, the owner, that drew us back here again. She is very welcoming and helpful for any visitors to Venice. The hotel itself, is in the perfect location for walking around the city due to it's central location. Two minutes from Piazza San Marco... More

Me and my wife stayed there for almost a week and we were positively surprised! Valentina was always very helpful and interested in us having a good stay, even providing tips about nice venues to go around the hotel, such as restaurants and markets. She even came out of her way to make us comfortable when we left: since we... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
