The hotel could not be on a better location, right beside Piazza San Marco. Breakfast is brought to the room (very basic). The receptionist was very nice, she marked on our map a 'walking tour' that was brilliant. We could leave our luggages at the reception until late after checking out. I would stay here again.

It was the first time I was selecting a hotel based only on Tripadvisor reviews. It turns out that Locanda Antico Casin fully deserves the highest rating. Yes, there are stairs to climb before getting to the reception and to the room. No, there is no lift. No, the room I had booked was not huge. Yes, it is a... More

My review erroneously attributed to my daughter Dina Y? So will repeat and add. Not for the elderly. Very tiring two flights of steep and tight stairs, after arriving to Milano by plane then train ride to Venice then water taxi to San Marco. Tiny room. Had asked for Superior room, got Inferior with a written apology. Overrated on Booking.com... More

Not for the elderly. Very tiring Two of steep and tight stairs, after arriving to Milano by plane then train ride to Venice then water taxi to San Marco Tiny room. Had asked for Superior room, got Standard with a written apology. Overrated on Booking.com at 8.8 excellent. Not met anyone yet to vent my disappointment, will probably show up... More

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. We arrived late at night and it was easy to find by following the instructions we were emailed. Self check-in was not an issue either. The rooms were large, clean and very nice. Roof terrace for breakfast was great and the owner was helpful and friendly.

We stayed there for 1 night only and the experience was great. We received an email with all instructions is our language including which transport we should get. The checkin is a "self chekin method". Wen you get there, all papers you need to sign and further informations are just there. The entrance is quite hidden but never a thing... More

We stayed at Locanda Antico Casin a couple of nights ago for 2 nights and found it to be a great hotel. The owner emailed us a few weeks in advance so finding the hotel from the boat bus stop nearby was painless in a city that is a little like a maze! The room was quite small but definitely... More

The hotel is next to the San Marco plaza nearby the highend shopping street of Venice. The hotel is behind Prada Store if I am not mistake. Modern rooms with beautiful bathrooms. The owner is very friendly and helpful even before the check-in. Just the breakfast is a bit disappointing. Not freshly served. Packed stuff! For the rest Great deal... More

This hotel was truly Venice. Back alley entrance, charming rooftop terrace and an innkeeper who made us feel like his most important guests. Basically a bed and breakfast, but really cool. Awesome bathroom with a fantastic shower; clean, nice-smelling room that wasn't huge but was ok, given the location. 2 weeks before our arrival, I received an e-mail from the... More

The rooms are puny - we had to remove all the chairs and put them in the common area outside just so we could unfold our medium sized suitcases. The entrance is tucked away in some back alley. Actually, there is no real entrance - it is just a flight of stairs. You can't enter except with a passcode because... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
