This is a quaint Venetian apartment with three rooms for rent and the family and caretakers live upstairs. One room has its own bathroom and the others are shared. The view from all three rooms is stunning. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was a typical continental style with rolls, yogurt, jam, juice and coffee. It is self serve and sometimes you... More

Staying here was like staying with a friend. Alice was very welcoming with lots of advice on things to do and places to go (I didn't get to meet Marco) and their daughter Nina was a cheeky delight. My room was big and furnished beautifully with antiques, a desk, antique rug and a window that opened onto a canal and... More

Returning to my room each night truly felt like I was coming home. My room was filled with art made by Venetian artists, my antique bed and beautiful linens and I had a fantastic view out my window of a quiet canal and church steeples. As a solo female traveler I especially appreciated breakfast time. There was plenty of healthy... More

Alice and Marco are lovely hosts and there home is charming, comfortable and inviting. The breakfast is simple but satisfying. The location is ideal and we found it easily with their very clear directions. The shops along the way are exquisite - glass, masks, stationery, jewelry. It is on a quiet canal, very close to San Marco Square and reasonably... More

I have stayed here for many years and love it. Marco and Alice are lovely, warm and welcoming. This is a home where Marco grew up and is lovingly maintained. It is close to everything yet away from the crowds. I have stayed in the spacious apartment, which has two bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen and a large sitting room which... More

We stayed in B&B San Marco for three nights in October. The room was really gorgeous, exactly like the pictures, and we had a balcony looking onto the canal. Alice (our host) was very welcoming and helpful, and it was wonderful to share her home for a few days along with the other guests who we met over the shared... More

Charming, authentically Venetian family home with lovely, comfortable rooms and a spacious apartment for rent. I have been going every year for three weeks and love it! Marco and Alice are wonderful hosts, very amiable and helpful. A 5 minute walk to St Mark's Square, yet quiet and a taste of the real Venice. Kathy M.

We stayed in August and had a fantastic time. We are a family of 5 and found the 2 double rooms and our son on a comfortable sofa bed perfect. We found the b&b with ease, being a short walk from the main boat drop off. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the apartment was all we could... More

Prior our vacation, I found communication with Alice excellent. She was always willing to answer any questions I had. Her directions were spot on and made finding the B&B very easy. Be aware that you have three flights of steps to climb to get to the B&B. The room we opted for (Genitori room) was chosen for the private balcony... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
