We have just returned from Venice and I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. The staff were helpful and friendly, the location is excellent and the breakfast was more than enough to set you up for a day of sightseeing. There were 6 of us in the group, so we booked two rooms, a double and a family room. The... More

Ensure you read the fine print when you book. There is a main hotel, which based on the common are was quite nice, however if you have the misfortune of being assigned to the annex, you will be staying a block or so away in a rather run down aging building. The wifi in the annex could only be accessed... More

The hotel is in a narrow street which connects to Rialto (to which it is closer) and Piazza San Marco. The location, more than anything, helped us enjoy our stay. In that respect, we couldn't have chosen much better. The room we had was of a reasonable size and breakfast was adequate (although the breakfast room itself was rather small/tightly... More

Bella Venezia was a beautiful boutique hotel almost in the middle between St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. The perfect location and a great place to stay. Also a short walk with bags to and from the Vaporetto.

Everything you could want from a four star hotel. My two friends and I booked this at 3am the day of wanting to stay and got a great last minute deal. Staff were friendly and helpful, room and hotel lovely! I would highly recommend. Our suite had fantastic canal views, very comfortable beds, bath and shower. Great breakfast and central... More

We stayed here in August and we really pleased with the choice of hotel. The location is excellent - turn right out of the hotel and you are at the Rialto bridge in minutes, turn left and you are at St marks square. We had booked a 1 bed apartment but were upgraded on arrival to a deluxe room with... More

A lot of reviews on here say not to book here or that they are deceptive.. if you pay attention to what you're booking, you won't have this problem. Don't book the annex, and you'll be in the main building, it's as simple as that. We booked through expedia and upgraded to a canal view room. We were in room... More

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment as my husband and I were traveling with our 18 year old son and my 65 year old mother, so we thought it would be nice to have all of us in the same common area. Since the hotel was a 4-star hotel I assumed the "Apartments" would also be 4-star as they were... More

We were looking for a hotel and we bought 1 night for about $100. Our room turned out to be a suite nearby the hotel. It was very good with many bedrooms and was in the center of Venice, just a 2 minute walk to San Marco Square, and was close to a water taxi and gondola station. Great breakfast... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
