We enjoyed our stay.. It was a great location.. Everything in Venice is close but this was 5 minutes to St. Marks, shopping and restaurants right outside the door. .. Lots of activity and felt very safe.. Courteous and helpful staff. We certainly recommend it and will stay again on our next trip.

Great location, great service, comfy bed. All you can ask for. We are staying here again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's the best hotel we stayed at in our whole week and a half in Italy.

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel with friends. We found the hotel to be well placed, close to St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge. The staff were very friendly and helpful, put themselves out to ensure you had all you need. Room clean and comfortable, although shower leaked a bit, but was powerful. Enjoyed breakfast good choice, coffee... More

I got a great deal on ebookers.com so wasn't expecting anything fancy but the room was located out in the Annex part of the hotel and down a scary dark alley way. Room was fine and clean but didn't look anything like the photos on site. Breakfast was free and amazing selection. Coffee ok. Staff was friendly. Only complaint is... More

We stayed here for three nights over Carnavale. Location was excellent, staff friendly and room good. Breakfast was good. We found the bed to be hard and the wifi spotty. As far as the annex issue we were concerned about that but had no problem with staying in the main hotel. At least on Orbitz it is clear which rates are... More

I can not praise this hotel enough. It was fantastic. The room was lovely and spacious. They provided you with toiletries and robes and slippers. It was in a great location a few minutes from piazza San Marco and from the Rialto Bridge. And the breakfast was fantastic, a large variety of hot and cold food. I stayed in about... More

Make sure you do not book Annex. Annex is not a hotel is a bed and breakfast. I find it disrespectful to sell B&B rooms under the 4 star hotel advertisement!!!! On top of all the issues such as dirt and little room, I have to point out few things that I think are unacceptable for wither hotel or B&B.... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights including New Year's Eve. The cost was nearly $600 per night and we felt this was way too expensive for the accommodations we had. We have stayed in many 4-5 star hotels while traveling in Europe and this was maybe a 3 star. Perhaps, the rate was such because it was New... More

I stayed at the annex - LaScala, which is about a 100 meters from the main hotel, the last week of November 2014. The location is perfect. A few minutes' walk to the Realto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, etc...Thanks to that fact, I was able to go to the Piazza at midnight, when it is deserted and even more delightful,... More

We stayed as a couple the last weekend in November and booked through easyjet breaks. It was extremely easy to find from the Rialto bridge with one small bridge to go over, if you keep to the canal. Made to feel welcome on arrival and given all the necessary information, they took my credit card details but this was expected... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
