We loved it so much, I booked it again AND we stayed longer than expected by two days. The staff is incredibly nice, the rooms are very nice and the breakfast is perfect to tide you over until you can eat at some of the best restaurants in Venice. (All recommended by the staff of Residenza Ca' Foscolo!)

The apartment is very very large for couples. Clean and quiet. Nice location. Very helpful and nice staff. The stock of breakfast is very sufficient and with great variety. And it is good value for money comparing to other traditional "Victorian" style hotels in Venice. Highly recommended!

This was one of the nicest places that we stayed when on our Europe trip. It is not a hotel, it is an apartment. They stock the kitchen with breakfast food (rolls, cereal, milk, juice, etc.) for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were large. We also had a balcony that overlooked one of the canals and... More

Our group stayed twice (3 nights each) at the beginning and end of our trip to Northern Italy. We had a 2 bedroom unit with a view of the small canal going by. Just lovely and very clean! Directions supplied by staff via email were spot on and made trip from the Rialto Bridge stop easy for those coming by... More

Arrived by water taxi. Hotel is easily accessible from boat ramp. Reception was warm and hospitable. Our room was clean and spacious for 3 people. Walking distance to Ponte d Rialto and Piazza San Marco. Hotel provided us with rain boots in order to navigate Venice during the aqua alta. Books and games were available at library on each floor.... More

Booked a lovely apartment in Residence Ca' Fiscolo, the reception from the staff was first class and the apartment was well equipped and spacious. When you are in the apartment you feel like you've stepped back in time, the view over canal is excellent.

We've stayed here more than 4 times, after trying about a dozen other hotels, residences (meaning bedroom room + living room + kitchenette+ washing machine) and other permutations of a place to put your weary head down. This is by far our favorite. Come by water taxi if you can, it makes it much easier and if there are 4... More

Everything was wonderful during out stay. We are a family of 4 and stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. It was extremely spacious, with a basic but satisfying breakfast every morning. There were games and books available to borrow in the lounge and my boys enjoyed playing chess. We ended up extending our stay by one night, our... More

Incredibly spacious hotel. Not like rest of Europe.. had an entire apartment. The staff was very friendly and made sure everything was to our liking. The receptionist is not there through the evening but was very accomadating. Easy to walk to main attractions but on a quiet street. Breakfast was not bad but not great. Really a beautiful apartment to... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
