This was our first visit to Venice, the location of the hotel was great, a short walk to St. Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they set us up with a charger to borrow after we forgot to purchase one. We stayed in a room with three people and had plenty of room.... More

My partner and I stayed here for a week in April and don't have a bad thing to say!! This hotel is perfect very central, staff very helpful, nothing was too much. Breakfast consisted of cereals, fruit, pastries and muffins which were out of this world!! We stayed on the ground floor and we amazed with the singing gondolas which... More

All I can say is that it was a great location, but the hotel is not as beautiful and comfortable as I expected. The rooms and bathrooms are small, the service is OK (for Italy) and I would not go back.

Hotel Becher is a nice little hotel in the heart of Venice, is located behind St Mark’s square and a mere 5 minutes walk from St Mark’s Vaporetto (Water Bus) stop. A little hard to find if first time in Venice. The room was beautifully decorated venetian style, the AC worked fine and it was spotless clean. The bathroom was... More

I found, and choose this hotel because of location and other travellers rewive. I did not get dissapoined! The hotel is a brilliant location in very small street, easy "10 minutes walk" to many sights. The Staff, all of them, are extreamly kind, helpful, and they will help and guide in all best ways. I travel alone, I booke a... More

We booked our trip thru European Destinations, and upgraded our package to include this hotel...what a great decision. It was the perfect start to our first trip to Italy. The room was beautiful, the staff helpful, the breakfast wonderful. The room for four was small but beautiful. We loved overlooking a canal where we could hear the gondoliers sing as... More

The Hotel Becher is a cute little hotel in the heart of San Marco. It is just a few minutes walk to Piazza San Marco and relatively easy to find, which is not true of all hotels in Venice. The hotel staff was always very warm and welcoming and extremely helpful! We stayed in a Junior Suite on the 3rd... More

We've looked through many 3* hotels in Venice on TripAdvisor, and we had an impression that most hotels near San Marco are either too expensive or very old. We expected less of this hotel(although it was not cheap), but it came out as a surprise that it is actually very nice. It's clean and pretty, the room was beautiful and... More

Arrived early in the day and they were very considerate of our schedule, got us up in the room very quickly. Small hotel, nice sized room on the second floor overlooking the canal. Not sure how I would have felt with a street side room but it was nice to hear the canal noise in the background during out time... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
