Hotel Becher is a charming hotel easily located from the Vaporetto station (about a 7min walk). The staff were super friendly and helped us with some restaurant recommendations that were not tourist traps. Getting anywhere from the hotel was easy - you have your fair share of getting lost but that's the fun of Venice. Our room 204 was really... More

The best neighborhood, great staff, nice building, very clean, helpful staff, and everything that is needed for a romantic stay, when we were there, almost all other guests were couples... It is located in uptown of Venice, if you have a canal view (unfortunately we didn't have), you will see gondolas passing the canal, this is the same at breakfast... More

We stayed over Easter holidays with 2 children. The hotel/room were fairly standard. The thing that made the hotel great was the friendly and attentive staff. They made us all feel very welcome and provided some fabulous advice for shows and restaurants The highlights of our trip all came from their recommendations (restaurant, symphony and an opera). We will definitely... More

The hotel is very near St Mark's square. It's excellent value for money and the staff were so helpful and very friendly. The room we had over-looked the canal and was very clean and elegant. Everything is easily within walking distance. A very charming, friendly hotel.

Small comfortable hotel on quiet street near St Mark's Square. Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient for the vaporetto. The only drawback was the small breakfast area. Once we had to wait were offered coffee whille we did. The city tax has to be paid in cash.

We booked a Classic double with a canal view and a triple or family room for our three teenagers. Our rooms were on the second floor and were the only two rooms sharing the corridor. I emailed the hotel directly to make sure we had the best room type to suit our needs. As we have three teenagers, two boys... More

This small boutique hotel is perfectly located, close to Piazza San Marco, Rialto and many good restaurants nearby (search Tripadvisor Venice Restaurants), also is very close to La Fenice, incredible historical theater, where we attend Don Giovanni opera (book early). The rooms are nice decorated and very clean. This hotel face to a canal, this is not very common to... More

I did a lot of research on hotels in venice because there are so many around and came across this gem. I booked the hotel on the back of some wonderful reviews on here and they weren't wrong. Before our trip I was in touch with the hotel by email and they were always quick to reply and so helpful... More

Good hotel on the canal. San Marco piazza is 5 minutes walk away and lots of restaurants nearby for easy eating. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are a good size. Better than expected in terms of decor and size. Recommend it if you want to feel like your staying in an 18th century hotel...

We stayed at the Hotel Becher during Carnivale and found it to be perfectly situated so we could get to and from St Mark's Square in our costumes very quickly. There are lots of restaurants nearby and you have easy access to both the Rialto and Accedemia bridges. The rooms are small but the reception staff were very friendly and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
