This hotel is wonderfully located. It's a five or so minute walk from San Marco Square. It's also in the heart of lots of shops, restaurants and is resonably close to the Rialto bridge. The staff were super friendly and helpful. As other reviews have stated, the elevator is tiny and not great to transport your bags. However although we didn't... More

This hotel is a little gem, tucked away in a little Venetian side street. From the moment I had booked this hotel to the moment I left I could fault absolutely nothing. Sure, the room was small, but that is the charm and character of Venice. My room looked out over a canal and bridge and I could sit in... More

My husband surprised with this trip and the Hotel Becher did not disappoint. The rooms are clean and have Venetian decor though out is delightful The staff are very friendly and helpful cannot fault their service. The continental buffet breakfast has a nice choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt and fruit juices, as well as the normal spread of cold meats,... More

Great little boutique hotel. The service was fantastic and we were given a charming little room with a canal view. Picture is from out room 204's window. Continental breakfast was a nice addition to the experience. Recommended!

I'd like to give 5 stars for service ~ and 4 for the hotel. Not an option so I'll just say it's a "very good" hotel with absolutely "excellent" (5 stars) service. We stayed at Hotel Becher in August 2015. Our excellent service began a couple of weeks prior through several e-mails with Massimiliano (we needed to add a third... More

It is often hard to pick a hotel in popular european locations- i can guarantee you have found the right place! We were greeted by the lovely staff at hotel becher for our stay in venice. The manager Massimo went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful time. The hotel itself was beautiful and breakfast was great.... More

Average hotel with "quaint" decor, fairly clean and reasonably helpful staff. Only complaints were ... 1) Very small rooms. 2) No air conditioning or air flow. Uncomfortably hot, humid and stuffy during the summer months. 3) Very slippery shower (over bath) with no handrails for balance.

Stayed in a room with two twin beds (we are accustomed to a king bed back home) and it was pretty comfortable. The AC worked well although I couldn't help but notice the smell of humidity when we first walked into the room-it is Venice after all and its 98 degrees outside with 100%humidty in July. However, we were not... More

The room was very comfortable, we even had a view over a canal and there were periodic singing gondoliers passing by. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (spoke excellent English - which was a help as my Italian is not up to scratch!). The location is excellent - 5-10minutes walk to St Mark's Square and not much further than... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2015

Stayed July 21-24 with teenage daughters. Usually we are quite squashed in a triple room but we had a room with a single en suite and a double ensuite so loads of room and no fighting to get in the bathroom! Air con was excellent which we really appreciated as Venice was so hot. Great location, walked to St Mark's,... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
