The Hotel Becher is a cute little hotel in the heart of San Marco. It is just a few minutes walk to Piazza San Marco and relatively easy to find, which is not true of all hotels in Venice. The hotel staff was always very warm and welcoming and extremely helpful! We stayed in a Junior Suite on the 3rd... More

We've looked through many 3* hotels in Venice on TripAdvisor, and we had an impression that most hotels near San Marco are either too expensive or very old. We expected less of this hotel(although it was not cheap), but it came out as a surprise that it is actually very nice. It's clean and pretty, the room was beautiful and... More

Arrived early in the day and they were very considerate of our schedule, got us up in the room very quickly. Small hotel, nice sized room on the second floor overlooking the canal. Not sure how I would have felt with a street side room but it was nice to hear the canal noise in the background during out time... More

A small hotel but with character and friendly, helpful staff. A water taxi organised by the hotel picked us up and delivered us directly to the hotel landing. Easy and a great way to be introduced to Venice. Room was large and comfortable. We opted to pay the supplement for a canal view and we were not disappointed. Especially looking... More

Loved visiting Hotel Becher, particularly working with Anna at the front desk. She made us part of her family, and we hated leaving. Great location, okay breakfast and very European. Clean bathrooms, but if you want a strong hair dryer (as I did), this isn't the hotel for you. That said, I would return in a heartbeat! Our room overlooked... More

On 7th of Aprill 2015 my boyfriend surprised me with a birthday visit to Venice. We stayed in this beautiful hotel! On arrival we had prosecco and strawberrys in our stunning room which over looked the canal. It was paradice!! The room was a very good size considering it's in venice, and was decorated beautifully! The furniture was gorgeous and... More

Hotel Becher is a charming hotel easily located from the Vaporetto station (about a 7min walk). The staff were super friendly and helped us with some restaurant recommendations that were not tourist traps. Getting anywhere from the hotel was easy - you have your fair share of getting lost but that's the fun of Venice. Our room 204 was really... More

The best neighborhood, great staff, nice building, very clean, helpful staff, and everything that is needed for a romantic stay, when we were there, almost all other guests were couples... It is located in uptown of Venice, if you have a canal view (unfortunately we didn't have), you will see gondolas passing the canal, this is the same at breakfast... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
