Stayed July 21-24 with teenage daughters. Usually we are quite squashed in a triple room but we had a room with a single en suite and a double ensuite so loads of room and no fighting to get in the bathroom! Air con was excellent which we really appreciated as Venice was so hot. Great location, walked to St Mark's,... More

what a phenomenal hotel, in the heart of Venice. Very close to st mark's (you need gps navigation on your phone if it's your first time in venice), gondola stops and finest dining. The hotel staff were amazing, we (2 families, 5 people) were treated like royalty and when we wanted to leave, the lady from the desk came and... More

The location is a short walk from the vaporetto stop at San Marco. Tucked in on one of the small streets just a few minutes walk from the Piazza San Marco but far enough away that you are not in the middle of the madness. We were given room 102 which was on the canal with a great view of... More

From the first instance a great stay. Luca and Massimo were very helpful at reception. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful. Our room looked onto a canal at ground level which was great for watching gondolas go by. Hope to come back again!

The service staff was the nicest and most helpful that we found in Venice. It's a short walk to the St. Mark's Square. Our room was beautiful and clean. We had the Junior suite with a balcony overlooking the canal. We were delighted to wake up to the sound of a gondolier singing as he passed by. The breakfast was... More

When in Venice for the first time we picked this hotel based on reviews and location. Prefect pick. When we arrived we were greeted by Anna at the front desk, who was so helpful. We had a Gondola ride scheduled for the next day that needed confirming upon arrival which she handled while we were out enjoying our first day... More

This is a wonderful Italian hotel in San Marco. If you are looking for character and charm, this is the place to stay. The rooms are small as is the elevator that fits about 2 people, but I feel this is part of the charm/ Our room is very clean; nice staff and a very good breakfast buffet..

This hotel has an excellent location. Staff is truly helpful and their tips make your stay in Venice very pleasant. Enjoy your breakfast just next to the canal and admire Mozart's house just next to it. Rooms are absolutely clean and their size is just right. Everything is exactly how it should be herr.

The room was just too small for 2 adults and 2 suitcases. Only one shower door could be opened because the other one was restricted by the toilet. I have stayed in some small hotel rooms before and been quite satisfied because of the efficiency of the layout but they missed the mark here. Also, the AC never fully cooled... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
