We stayed here for a wedding anniversary weekend and were automatically upgraded. Beautiful building with a great deal of style and character, tastefully decorated rooms and public areas, extremely comfortable bed! Breakfast is good with an excellent selection of rolls, cereals, pastries and fruit, very friendly and helpful staff. We would certainly return as it is located near to Grand... More

This hotel is a beautiful, old age, nostalgic place. The rooms are well appointed and very nicely done up. Bathrooms also are very nice. I had a family room, with two baths and two bedrooms interconnected. We enjoyed our stay a lot

Awesome and kind staff and adequate breakfast. We had a suite with great view of the Grand Canal. We'll probably be returning here. It is about 25-30 feet away from the canal, so transport by vaporetto is very easy with luggage. There is also a little square very close that has a great gelato shop and a pizza one just... More

Hotel is located steps away from the dock where the water taxi stop. Close to Plaza San Marco, to the Rialto Bridge, nice restaurants and nice shopping areas. We got a very nice decorated suite type with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The breakfast was included and it was very good all the days we stayed in. The lady who... More

We stayed 2 nights in room 11&12 with our teenage children. (2 days in Venice is the right amount with teenagers. A little quiet for them). The rooms were both very comfortable and charming. Both bathrooms were clean, the kids bathroom was more updated and larger than ours but they were both very good. No disappointment in the rooms at... More

Stayed in family room with wife and two teenage daughters. Room(s) had a bit too much furniture so we had to get creative and move some tables and chairs outside and up on dressers to make it work. Very comfortable rooms and also very comfortable and quaint common areas. The hotel is small but also very classy and different. Great... More

Having been in the fortunate position of been given an upgrade on arrival, why would we fault! Having said this, this is a very quaint hotel, does not feel over bearing at all. Very clean room, yes the actual hotel interior decor may be older style but this adds to the charm. Very polite attentive staff, excellent lift facilities. Breakfast... More

Hotel Dei Dragomanni is about a 5-10 minute walk from the St. Mark's square. You walk over canal bridges, down upscale street to a quiet street about a block from the Canal. The hotel was very nice and quiet

I stayed here for three comfortable nights and the hotel left little to be desired. It is centrally located in the San Marco Sestiere, a short walk from either San Marco itself or the Accademia. The easiest approach is from Giglio vaporetto stop but make sure you get directions as the HD is somewhat hard to find. Features - helpful... More

The hotel is down a small alley which ends with a modest jetty on the Grand Canal, so it is not a pedestrian cut-through, and is only 5 minutes walk from the Accademia Bridge. So although it is right in the middle of Venice it is tucked away from the crowds and noise of the city. The hotel staff are... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
