Stayed in family room with wife and two teenage daughters. Room(s) had a bit too much furniture so we had to get creative and move some tables and chairs outside and up on dressers to make it work. Very comfortable rooms and also very comfortable and quaint common areas. The hotel is small but also very classy and different. Great... More

Having been in the fortunate position of been given an upgrade on arrival, why would we fault! Having said this, this is a very quaint hotel, does not feel over bearing at all. Very clean room, yes the actual hotel interior decor may be older style but this adds to the charm. Very polite attentive staff, excellent lift facilities. Breakfast... More

Hotel Dei Dragomanni is about a 5-10 minute walk from the St. Mark's square. You walk over canal bridges, down upscale street to a quiet street about a block from the Canal. The hotel was very nice and quiet

I stayed here for three comfortable nights and the hotel left little to be desired. It is centrally located in the San Marco Sestiere, a short walk from either San Marco itself or the Accademia. The easiest approach is from Giglio vaporetto stop but make sure you get directions as the HD is somewhat hard to find. Features - helpful... More

The hotel is down a small alley which ends with a modest jetty on the Grand Canal, so it is not a pedestrian cut-through, and is only 5 minutes walk from the Accademia Bridge. So although it is right in the middle of Venice it is tucked away from the crowds and noise of the city. The hotel staff are... More

We stayed here for four nights in July and on arrival late at night we were welcomed by cheerful staff and recommended a place near by to eat. Our room was beautiful, elegantly decorated with crisp white bedding and the room immaculately clean. There was appropriate space to hang clothes, toiletries in the bathroom to enjoy and a decent shower.... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Dei Dragomanni for a weekend. Absolutely lovely! Our room was not huge but was really nice - the whole thing was really excellent value. It felt special but not so special that you were uncomfortable. We found all the staff to be helpful and kind, with a couple of 'typical' italian stereotypes! Its... More

Our family of four stayed in a 'family room' in the top floor (converted attic). The room was very spacious - the children each had their own beds and there was even a separate sitting room area. The TV had the option of original (English) language on most channels. The wifi was great and well used by our techie family.... More

We spent a couple of night last May at Dei Dragomanni and will definitely stay there again for our next trip to Venice. Ideally located, you are just minutes away from ponte del Academia or the famous piazza San Marco or even the ponte di Rialto. Let yourself flow into this museum city and we recommend the Alilaguna boat trip... More

This hotel was just right for a first trip to Venice. The rooms are nice, but do show some age. The mirror in our bathroom was cracked, for example, and the sliding door showed some damage, but overall, the room was comfortable and quaint. The weather was incredible, and we opened the windows for a beautiful view of the surrounding... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
