We booked this hotel because it is small and close to the railway station. An old building renovated 10 years ago into hotel rooms. Rooms are comfortable with good bathrooms. Breakfast is self serve meats, cheese, rolls and cereals plus coffee/teas.A very adequate breakfast. ( Some travellers have unrealistic expectations when it comes to their first meal of the day).... 2 nights in the Hotel Ca' Lucrezia, a standard Hotel with few amenities, there was no one on the concierge when we arrived instead you collected your keys from a counter in a white envelope, this meant that the personal feel you get from most hotels did not exist, the staff when we met them the next day where friendly... Dont let this hotel's unpretentious exterior confuse you, its unpretentious inside as well. The price is reasonable value compared to other Venice Hotels. We stayed because of it's proximity to the railway station.Breakfast was adequite though the coissant's were rationed. There is no lift so try for a lower floor if you can. Rooms were clean but be warned the beds have... More

we actually stayed in that hotel at the end of March of 2014, but was so upset about the experience that took me all this time to write the review. We arrived there in the afternoon, and there was nobody to even open the door or help us checking in. We rang the doorbell and a neighbor opened the door... More

The hotel's best asset is its location. Right near to the train station in Venice is worth a lot. You can simply toss off your baggage and be free for all other attractions without worrying on how to move with your baggage to other locations. Other than that the hotel provides the basic needs of any hotel and can be... More

This place is perfect for people who care about basic needs and are just looking for a tidy room. The location couldn't be better: you really dont want to Carry a bag through the medieval streets of Venice, and this hotel is basically 2m next to the station, so perfect! The staff wasnt extremely friendly but they surely werent rude... More

Before going to this hotel we carefully read the reviews of other travelers and took into consideration all the recommendations but in reality the hotel was better than we expected. The location is perfect, just next to the Santa Lucia train station, very easy to find. We arrived late and the door was closed but we knew from other reviewers... More

The hotel is in a great location, just a few blocks from santa lucia train station, although it is overpriced. The room was big enough, very clean, tidy and quiet. The worst about the hotel is that I had to carry the luggage up to the 3rd floor through a narrow stairs. So, be carefull if you are not in... More

We had a relatively mediocre stay at this small property. The location was good as it was near Santa Lucia train station (200m) so we could just deposit our luggages in our rooms quickly before making our way around Venice. Rooms - we had a triple and double room. Both rooms were really tired looking but the housekeeper did a... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
