We stayed here for three days during our visit to Venice. The place is a bit out of the way from the high traffic areas but we liked the fact that it was quiet in the evenings. The rooms were big, beds comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice. The shower was roomy with plenty of water pressure. We had... More

The apartment was clean, and both rooms were spacious. The staff was helpful (they let us keep our luggage at the hotel hours past checkout), and overall it was a pleasant stay, and convenient to what we wanted to see in Venice. Our room was close to the "street", and it was noisy pretty late ... but we made the... More

We went to this apartment as a group of 4 (2 couples) for 2 nights. It was really excellent, clean and tidy with friendly staff. It is only about 10mins from San Marco so great location too. We had nice views of the canal from both the rooms. We ate out so didn't use the kitchen but there seemed to be... More

Just got back from staying here with 2 other girls, we had a 2 bedroom apartment. It was fantastic, very clean, and everything you need. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone. My only tip is make sure you go to the right supermarket.... go out the front door, turn left and don't go over the bridge, turn left... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
