The hotels best features are: location - it is close to the hotel Metropol and Arsenale on Campo Bandiera e Moro where you do not see the results of mass tourism in Venice. This is luxury. The second best feature of the hotel is the garden which is beautiful, calm, private and accessible all the time. The third best feature... More

This is the perfect place to stay with kids in Venice. Off the beaten path but very close to a lot of the most visited spots of Venice. Close to the Arsenale and Giardini if you are in town for the Biennale. This will give you an extraordinary experience without spending a fortune. Very close to several nice restaurants and... More

1 block back from waterfront and was easy to find ! Waterbus stop is only 5 min walk away and takes you straight up the Grand Canal. Waterbus from train station takes you to this stop also which makes it easy if you have luggage. Clean and basic rooms( very IKEA looking furniture ) plastic vase etc. Need to clean... More

I really enjoyed by stay in the Palazzo Soderini. I had stayed in Hotel's in Italy before coming here on this trip, but this was my favourite place. I liked the modern clean room and reception as well as the amenable owner Luca who was friendly and helpful. What I also liked about this place was the fact that you... More

I stayed here with my wife based on earlier reviews and we were not dissapointed. Soderini is located in a quiet square away from the crowd but close to everything. Very helpful and friendly staff, especially Luca who has an answer readily available for every question. The room is basic but has everything you need. The breakfast is very good... More

We stayed 2 nights in family, 2 adults + child 3Y old, and we liked it a lot from the beginning to the end. The location, room, breakfast, building, garden were excellent, but it's the hospitality that impressed us the most, especially as we didn't expect it in this highly touristic city. Very quiet, spotless, efficient wifi. We will for... More

Friends, who had already stayed at Palazzo Soderini recommended us this place and we were totally pleased by the warm hospitality of the lady who runs it, the perfect location (just a few minutes from San Marco at a quiet little piazza), the beautiful old building, the tasteful interior, the clean and spacious room (we stayed at the approx. 50sqm... Venice is a very expensive place, but even so the price we paid for two nights at this hotel seemed too much. The decor is modern and minimalist, and the building seemed very clean, but the furniture is cheap and unexciting (think basic Ikea) and our room was very small. Not that we needed much room, but there was hardly... More

Bills itself as a "Palazzo" Only thing Palazzo is the facade Next to it is a run down building annex. Look through Trip Advisor photos before booking.Venere and Booking . com don't show what it's really like. Plain modern, cheap interior,

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
