The room is cute and better than its own photos. Which location is so convenient that you can walk to the main sight no more than 30 mins. It's the best way to see around Venize. The staff are willing help us due to we don't have any charger and switch adaptor in that time. The breakfast is nice and... More

About 150 feet away from Ca' d'Oro vaporetti station lies this place. Slightly hidden, but it's Venice, you're bound to get lost eventually. Good thing is, that they (Alloggi Santa Sofia) has a sign on the main road so if you just look carefully enough you'll be fine. Rooms are old- the beds and sheets look very 20th century. Floor... We have stayed at this hotel at least 3 maybe 4 times and have always enjoyed our stay. It is in a great location and at a very reasonable price for Venice. There are a lot of steps to climb but the staff will help you with your luggage. The staff that serves breakfast is very serious and does not... More

My husband and i LOVED this hotel. The room was so cute! the bathroom was awesome with a super funky jet shower thing (we called it the restoration chamber) because you'd come out feeling amazing! The room had a cute little balcony over the main street so you could watch the tourists walk by. wifi was pretty good for italy,... More

We arrived at the hotel very easily, despite what some other travels had said on TA. It took approx 5 mins from the Ca' d'Oro canal stop (4th from the train station on line 1). We walked a few metres to Strada Nuova then took the second lane on the left-about 70 m. It's signposted above the street name too.... More

We stay at the Alloggi Santa Sofia for 4 nights in May 2014. It was clean, friendly and very easy to find, right in the middle of all the Venice hustle and bustle. Breakfast was not large but adequate. Room was quiet at night and close enough to zip out for a late evening snack or glass of vino.

Not a bad hotel, a little expense but we are in Venise in Aug. The family rooms on the top floor are big and airy. They are clean and the staff are very friendly. The only down side, our bathroom smelt of urine, and in the childrens room, the shower head had to be held by hand. The dining room... More

The hotel is close to the Ca d'oro vaporetto stop and to the fondamente nuovo stop from the airport. Reception was 24 hours, and very friendly. The hotel is just off the main street, quite unassuming at first glance but lovely inside. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and the bathrooms were nice. We stayed twice here and preferred the... More

The first thing is finding the hotel - we found this really difficult! I couldn't even direct you there now! We stayed for one night. You do have to walk up stairs to the reception and yes it isn't ideal but it wasn't a big deal for us. When we arrived the lady on reception poured us some water from... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
