Typical Venetian furnished room, comfortable bed, excellent ensuite. Nice staff and breakfast. Stairs We took the Vaporetto( water bus) from station on line 1. Disembarked at the 4th stop, Ca'd 'Oro. Walk ahead to Strada Nuova, turn RIGHT, 2nd lane on left, sign on the wall, along lane, upstairs to Reception. Very easy to find.

This charming little place (Ca D'ORO stop of waterbus) is in the middle of the road between Bus and Train Station and San Marco Square, so, you can walk in any direction from there, nothing is too far. People are very friendly and helpful.

Alloggi Santa Sofia is a little gem offering a great location, large room for the price, AC, free wifi and a large breakfast by Italian standards (bread, assorted spreads, ham, cheese, yogurt, juice, cappuccino, fruit and cereal). The staff were very gracious and helpful. They kept our luggage after checkout and offered us the use of the restroom when we... More

In a city that seems a bit crazy and seedy this is a nice oasis. The staff is very nice and helpful and willing to help wherever necessary. We had 12 of us there complete with young kids and it was great. It is a bit of a challenge to find, but that is almost a plus. The breakfast was... More

We enjoyed our night here. The staff is friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome. The breakfast was simple but great, we really enjoyed it. We had an economy room but I feel like it was better. It was across from the main hotel and very private, we didn't have to climb the steps as often as the... More

Very impressed with this lovely little b&b, I see most people complain about the stairs, but for me I saw it as burning off all that pizza I was eating :-) friendly staff, lovely breakfast, clean place and seemed safe, I was happy to leave my items there everyday. It's a great location as you're right in the middle of... More

Clean and comfortable room, good breakfast with pastries, ham, cheese, yogurt, fruit, and drinks, nice location with a short walk to train station, friendly people working there, and good wifi connection at all hours. We had to ask where it was but then noticed a sign about 8 ft up at the entrance to the alley off the main street.... More

We had booked an economy double room but were thrilled to have our own roof terrace. Staff helpful and hotel in perfect situation two minutes from Ca d'Oro vaporetto stop within easy walking distance of the Rialto bridge Breakfast was adequate in a small but pretty breakfast room. Excellent value for money and will definitely return, hopefully next year.

The room is cute and better than its own photos. Which location is so convenient that you can walk to the main sight no more than 30 mins. It's the best way to see around Venize. The staff are willing help us due to we don't have any charger and switch adaptor in that time. The breakfast is nice and... More

About 150 feet away from Ca' d'Oro vaporetti station lies this place. Slightly hidden, but it's Venice, you're bound to get lost eventually. Good thing is, that they (Alloggi Santa Sofia) has a sign on the main road so if you just look carefully enough you'll be fine. Rooms are old- the beds and sheets look very 20th century. Floor... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
