Stayed here for four nights last week, as a treat for my partner's 50th. Did a lot of research and so glad we picked Oltre il Giardino. The best aspects, the wonderful service, the central location yet away from the crowds. Highly recommend.

We had such a lovely stay here over the weekend, it could not have been nicer. The staff were so helpful and friendly going that extra mile. The hotel is in a great area of Venice, walking distance to everything. It was also very quiet at night. Our room was beautiful with plenty of space and extremely clean. Thank you... More

We stayed at this small hotel for four nights in early November and it truly was perfect. The beds are fantastic, location peaceful and yet highly accessible to all the sights and the decor understated elegance. Couple this with a warm, welcoming and well informed staff, you have a perfect stay!

I can only agree with what others have said about this hotel - it is a very special place and a perfect reflection of the wonderfully romantic and beautiful city of Venice. The fact that we were there with 4 kids and still felt that the hotel was romantic says alot! We would definitely return to this hotel if we... More

This special place exceeded all my expectations. The location is on a quiet canal hidden behind a garden wall. Just steps from the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Basilica and square with several places for dining, cocktails or shopping. It is a quiet retreat that is away from the sometimes overwhelming crowds. Yet close enough to join when you like.... More

We stayed here 4 nights in September. The hotel, its garden and staff all live up to the reviews you will read here. Simply put, it was fantastic. The hotel is very well located - a short walk from the train station and an easy walk to all of Venice. Plenty of amenities are close by. The place is truly... More

We stay here twice a year and have done so for the the last 5 years or so. Kudos to the wonderful staff - couldn't be more helpful or courteous. Every stay has been perfect! We normally stay for a week or more because the hotel is perfectly located for visiting all of Venice, but also for taking day trips... More

I stayed here with my 2 adult children and they were able to accommodate 3 beds in our room. This 6 room hotel is located in ideal spot away from the main tourist area. A 10 min walk from the Piazzalle Roma ( where the taxi’s & buses are ) and a 10/15 min walk to the Rialto bridge and... More

Stayed here for 4 nights in August 2014. Tucked away behind a rather inconspicious entry door, this small hotel has all it takes to relax after a day in busy Venice. Although located fairly centrally (lots of good restaurants nearby, close enough to Rialto and within 10 minutes or so of 2 Vaporetto stops), it is quiet enough to help... More

Returning to Oltre Il Giardino each day after walking the streets of Venice is a lovely treat. It is calm and cool and though close to all the main attractions, it is removed enough to be a haven. A lovely garden and excellent staff complete the recipe! This is a small six room hotel, you will walk out the garden... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
