We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The location is great and staff very friendly and helpful. Our canal side superior apartment had a birds eye view onto the canals and singing gondolas. The apartment itself was no frills but it was very clean and comfortable beds, the hot water was plentiful and showers were great! Really recommended -... More

We had a quick long weekend away, and were looking for a hotel that was in the heart of Venice, but away from the noise of the tourist areas. The Residence Corte Grimani met it all, and then some. We were blown away by the size and quality of the rooms, the genuine sincerity of the staff and it's impressive... More

This apartment-style hotel is in the heart of Venice, yet located so that it is tranquil and private the second you walk in. It also has direct canal access, which means that when you arrive in Venice with all your luggage, the water taxi will bring you directly to the steps of the hotel. We had a superior apartment with... More

We found this hotel on the Internet and we selected it because of the location and the advantage of an elevator. It is an older residence which was converted into apts but is managed like a hotel. We had a room with twin beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. In between is a huge... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in early May and could not fault it. All the positive comments I read on face book are true and the staff are so helpful. The big plus is the proximity to the key areas of Venice, namely St Marks square, Rialto and Grand Canal. Tons of places nearby for coffee, food or drink.... More

We have stayed here before and cannot fault location and service. Nice spacious apartments with separate area with lounge and table and chairs. The only down side was that it was cold and we could not use the heater as supposedly they turn them off in mid April. Nothing a pair of socks could not fix. We decided on a... More

We just returned from 3 nights in Venice with our 3 kids (5,7&9) and thoroughly recommend the Corte Grimani. The location is super - just a short walk from St Marks but tucked away from the busy streets. With my 3 kids the ability to pop back to the hotel for the loo was great! The rooms were clean and... We spent three days in one of the Classic appartments with a view. We have three older teenagers and the accommodation was perfect, although it would not really have been easy to self cater beyond breakfasts and takeaways. (You pay extra for the hob and the dishwasher and unless pans etc were locked away, there was not much equipment for... More

Confirming everything else said about this hotel, and adding how great Guido and his staff are. In a city that was built on lies, deception, and parties, this hotel is an oasis to go back to. Breakfast you get across the street but there is also a kitchen and we had a full holiday dinner there. Unit 101 is on... More

While we had a rough start to our experience @ this hotel, things did turnaround and we would gladly stay here again. When we arrived mid afternoon with 2 kids and all of our luggage, the door was locked and the front desk staff was nowhere to be found, by doorbell or by phone. It turns out that he was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
