We just returned from 3 nights in Venice with our 3 kids (5,7&9) and thoroughly recommend the Corte Grimani. The location is super - just a short walk from St Marks but tucked away from the busy streets. With my 3 kids the ability to pop back to the hotel for the loo was great! The rooms were clean and... We spent three days in one of the Classic appartments with a view. We have three older teenagers and the accommodation was perfect, although it would not really have been easy to self cater beyond breakfasts and takeaways. (You pay extra for the hob and the dishwasher and unless pans etc were locked away, there was not much equipment for... More

Confirming everything else said about this hotel, and adding how great Guido and his staff are. In a city that was built on lies, deception, and parties, this hotel is an oasis to go back to. Breakfast you get across the street but there is also a kitchen and we had a full holiday dinner there. Unit 101 is on... More

While we had a rough start to our experience @ this hotel, things did turnaround and we would gladly stay here again. When we arrived mid afternoon with 2 kids and all of our luggage, the door was locked and the front desk staff was nowhere to be found, by doorbell or by phone. It turns out that he was... More

We decided to stay at this residence due to its' proximity to Piazza San Marco and a vaparetto station. Upon arrival, we were not disappointed. The residence is a short (no more than five to ten minute) walk from Vaparetto #2 stop in San Marco. It is an easy walk, even with a lot of tourist traffic. We arrived before... More

What a fantastic find in the heart of Venice. I must say it was a bit tricky to find initially but after a day it's not a problem. Right around the corner from San Marco Square, this apartment style hotel was absolutely perfect for our family of four. Clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed our apartment had amazing views of... More

We stayed at Corte Grimani 2 years ago (May 2013 - I know, the info attached says May '14, but I could not pick anything earlier) and I still remember our stay in detail because it was so great. Other reviewers cover the location, the size and cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly and helpful staff, the attractions of the... More

After weeks of searching online, my family and I read enough reviews to decide upon Corte Grimani for our home-base while in Venice. The location of the hotel on one of the canals, was easy to find after following the directions sent by the hotel. It is a three to five minute walk to San Marco. Our room was on... More

The "residence hotel" (I'm not sure what you call a "residenza" in English), Residenza Corte Grimani, was an exceptionally fortunate find by us. It is a 5-storey building that had once been an apartment house but had recently been converted to a residenza. Each floor has several apartments and the lobby floor is much like you would find in a... More

Awesome spacious apartment with kitchen. walking distance to st marks. However the Fully equipped Kitchen with utensils is available for use for an extra fee of 50 euros which is a little too high and kitchen cleaning is only on the final day. Great for kids since they provide crib and high chair on request which is a relief! Overall... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
