I found Residence Corte Grimani through TA and what a wonderful place. We are a family of 5 with a fair amount of luggage, so we took a water taxi to the hotel from the train station. It was not cheap, but worked out great with the canal leading right to the hotel. Guido was extremely nice and helped us... More

Beyond Amazing the view, the location size of apartment, washer in unit. We absolutely loved it here. We are from Seattle, currently live in Thailand and travel with our twin 10 year old boys. This place is such a treat. Staff were helpful, view We will never forget. The rooms are spacious. 2 bathrooms, could sleep 6. Well worth the... More

We arrived by water taxi with the expectation of a typical European sized room. After our welcome by the Manager, we were escorted to our room. Upon opening the door, we were amazed by the size....and the view overlooking the canal with Gondolas punting right outside our window. The hotel is a short walk to St Mark's Square, the grand... The location is ideal for the first time visitor to Venice, between the Rialto bridge and San Marco square (a bit closer to the latter), and nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle. (In fact, so well tucked away, on our first trip out, we had trouble finding our way back in!) The staff are friendly and extremely accommodating.... More

Stayed here due to the need for a washing machine during a lengthy stay in Italy. Good, but not luxury, standard of accommodation - exactly as expected. Friendly staff. Lovely canal view from our room. No breakfast available, but supermarket nearby as was an outstanding cafe/pasticceria. Midway between, and only three minutes walk to, Rialto and Piazza San Marco. Recommend... More

We stayed in a classic standard apartment, which has a large double bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 double sofa bed in the living room cum dining area (and a bonus small single bedroom off the side facing the bathroom which we did not expect). There were no views and we were very close to the next building but there were no... More

We just visited this hotel for two nights. Was close to everything and the host was lovely. Very helpful and speaks very good English. This is a great place if you want to not pay through the roof in Venice and are just after a clean, spacious room with air con that's central. We loved it

we stayed three nights this June and found the room wonderfully large. sadly no view, but incredibly quiet at night. the staff were very helpful and it is good value. we didn't use the cooking facility, so can't comment on that. location is good for many sights and is about 4 mins from St. Marks.

I stayed together with 5 other members of my family in a superior room and the apartment space was more than enough to situate us very comfortably -- even with our 6 big travel suitcases! Had a very pleasant 3-night stay even though the first night was quite warm as the hotel was just switching from centralized heating to air... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
