5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2014

I stayed at here in 2011 but wanted to update my review with my stay in 2014. Since my last stay here breakfast now includes boiled eggs and a sliced meat as well as the cereals, breads, and yogurts. I also found that my room had a mini-fridge inside the cabinet that the TV is on - I don't remember... More

We stayed here in May 2014, following a Grand Mediterranean Cruise. Loved the peace and quiet. Large room overlooking the garden, lovely breakfast which could be taken on the sunny terrace on warm days or in the breakfast room on cooler mornings. Short walk to Guglie stop. Very helpful directions given Valentina. We stayed on the recommendation of friends and... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2014

We stayed at the Domus Orsoni for 2 nights in August 2014. We walked from the train station to the BB. The directions provided by Valentina were easy to follow and it took us about 15 minutes to get there (being right in the high season, there were lots of people in the streets). The BB is 5 minutes from... More

Having read previous reviews we had high hopes for Domus Orsoni, and it didn't disappoint! We arrived at Piazale Roma from Treviso airport and decided to walk to our accommodation. It's a good 20 minute walk though Valentina's directions were perfect. As you walk past the train station there are huge crowds of people, though as you get closer to... More

I stayed at the Domus Orsoni with a friend between 14-17 August 2014. The B&B is located in a very quiet neighborhood and a nice break from the busy spots in Venice. We took a private taxi from the airport to get there and the B&B was just a 5 minutes walk from the Guglie water stop. The directions provided... More

My stay between 18-21 August 2014 was just as I had hoped. Simple, clean room with excellent bathroom and comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast adequate. Reasonable price for Venice but best of all was the silence at night. So close to the waterbus stop which helped. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The ground floor, complete with mosaic workshop and gorgeous mosaic... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

We stayed here between 12-15 August 2014. It is a pleasant and very clean small b & b......5 rooms. Ours was modestly appointed with a large comfortable bed and ac. The TV did not work. Breakfast is an ample continental style. As others have said it is a difficult place to find. If you arrive at the station one option... More

I stayed at Domus Orsoni for one night on a stopover in Venice. It is an interesting B&B with a unique difference - its also an art gallery and glass factory. The rooms were large and spacious and well furnished. The only unfortunate thing marred the experience was a loose shower holder that couldn't keep the shower up. Its location... More

It wasn't difficult to find this B&B. We followed closely to the direction given by the hosts and found the B&B in no time. It's around 10mins walk from the Guglie boat station. We could easily explore Venice via foot or boat from the B&B. The hosts also patiently explained to us the various tourist attractions in Venice and how... More

We stayed at Domus Orsoni for 5 nights in June/July 2014 and had a wonderful experience. The location is ideal as it is close enough to the center of Venice , but also far enough away to be quiet. A lovely breakfast was an ideal way to start our adventure each day. The hosts Valentina and Virginia were very helpful... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
