This hotel is very quiet, very simple, but is close to mostly anywhere in Venice. It also has a beautiful courtyard that you can enjoy during breakfast (quite good), and also you can take your wine/beverages and food any other time during the day. At night is very calm and enjoyable. Simple place, clean and good price.

Average tourist hotel. Ok, but nothing special apart from the garden. Not refined but ok and sufficient breakfast. Very friendly staff at breakfast. Not very interested staff at reception desk. A little drab complete room on the 3rd floor with alas on and of noise from the airco on the rooftop aside. A bit dated bathroom that did not feel... More

This is a lovely basic hotel in a fantastic location. San Samuele and St Angelo vaporetto stops are both a 5 minute walk so not far to drag your luggage! The thing to note is that the boat to and from the airport goes from St Angelo, so very handy indeed. The rooms are small, clean and comfortable and the... More

Having waited a lifetime to visit Venice, my expectations were exceeded! Although this hotel was difficult to find at first, its central location was very much appreciated by us "newbies" to Venice. The breakfast was good, room was clean and not too expensive.

The hotel is simple but was clean and tidy. It's location - close to the St.Angelo vaperetto stop makes it ideal. For those that don't know, the key to accommodation in Venice is, after price, how far do you have to drag your bag from the nearest stop to your hotel. St. Angelo to the hotel is only a short... Great location! Outdated but clean. Small but it's Venice! Very hard to find! Staff friendly breakfast good. Lots of choices for restaurants and shops. Very close to San Marco Square & once we got our bearings all was good. Close to two Vaporetto Stations, get the unlimited passes we used it lots and also went to Lido.

I spent one night at Domus Ciliota in mid-July for €77. It is in a quiet alley, and has a few dining options in the area. It is a minute walk away from Campo St. Stefano, several minute from the Academia Bridge, and 15 minute from St. Marco. The room is rather big, clean and cool. The breakfast was fine.... More

A place for elder couples. Reasonable site and rooms for a reasonable price. Decent breakfast, adequate, but not Manu variaationsa. A minus for not having a bar. Staff was professional and helpful. In the middle of everything, but not near anything. Peaceful.

What a find! Only 3 minutes walk from San Samuele Vaporetto stop in the San Marco district , this budget hotel is amazing value for money. The rooms are air conditioned, simple, basic and spotlessly clean. There is even a fridge. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The excellent breakfast can be eaten in the beautiful courtyard gardens - an... More

Traveled to Venice this past May, 2015. My friends and I had the most wonderful time exploriing Venice, and islands nearby. I highly recommend seeing Venice, however, go in should months, such as May and Septermber to avoid the crush. Many touists in May, but, not overbearing. The weather was perfect....cool and clear. Being a walking city, it's so easy... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
