Chose this hotel for its proximity to bus station and people mover because we were joining a cruise. Stayed only only night. Room was quite small, bathroom better than most. Comfortable bed. Aircon unit struggled to cool room in the very hot conditions in Venice so sleep was a little elusive. Breakfast was continental but not a lot of choice.... More

We stayed in the attic floor and it was very Hot during the nights (32°C). The room had air conditioning but it could not face the heat. The room was clean, the bathroom as well. The hotel is situated in piazzale Roma so you can reach it by car. They have a parking place that will cost you 20€/Day.

So many choices in Venice! We chose this hotel because of the onsite parking as we had a motorbike. Best decision ever!!!! So easy. Just ride over the causeway park up securely and check in! Good value for the location and breakfast included too. Very polite, friendly and so helpful. So convenient for the water buses, taxis and great restaurants.... More

Booked here as a last minute stay for 1 night. Room was nice and big with dated decor but we didnt care as it was very clean. Shower was not very powerful so don't expect much! I loved the old style shutters on the windows! The car park is an excellent bonus and at 20 euro for 24 hours is... More

Coming off a cruise ship, and taking the People Mover tram, we were dropped off just caddy corner to the hotel. I had a basic idea of where this place was, but no exact location. We actually wandered up and down the block (even thought of taking a cab) when I asked a guy with a luggage rack if he... More

This hotel was chosen by travelling friends as being a convenient stop before taking a Mediterranean Cruise a few days later. It is located in the main square near the Railroad Station and all the water taxis come in here. DON'T BOTHER. The old part of the hotel is old with a very windy staircase. The new part of the... Absolute perfect for cruise passengers. We took the bus from the airport to Pl Roma and were dropped off 25 yards from the hotels front lobby. We arrived very early and were pleasantly surprised that they had a room for us that was ready. The room was huge with a private bath. The morning breakfast was great and very good... More

The hotel is not a fancy one, but it was a surprise as looking from outside, and also from the lobby, looks very small, but the rooms are big, old style but clean, with toiletries included. The price for the room are not small, but acceptable considering the location and is Venice, and Venice is always expensive. The hotel has... More

This hotel proved ideal for our 4 day trip to Venice. It's location at the edge of the city is perfect, it is next to the bus terminals, the rail station, the Water Bus system and it has its own car park. Perfect! You can drive into Venice and avoid the need to carry your cases over the bridges etc... More

If you are heading to Venice on a trip you planned, have in mind luggage transport on vapporetos (those boats transportations) are very uncomfortable. That´s when Ca Doge kicks in. This hotel, whiuch is small, old and sureprinsingly cosi, is right beside train station and has a garage, which is a must whether you are travelling through beatiful Italy. So,... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
