This place was completely accommodating in every way. It started 2 days before our arrival. I called to see if they could book a upscale restaurant for My Wife's birthday which was our arrival date. They not only book a great restaurant for us they had a split of champagne and rose in our room. The staff was very friendly... More

Ca Doge is located near the rail and near the cruise line docks. We stayed for 3 days before our cruise and found this hotel very nice, clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was the court yard is used for parking, so loads of cars are there and you have to go around them. The location was perfect... More

We have been blessed to stay at at Ca' Doge for several days each year for the past six years. This is kinda like our Venetian home away from home. Once again, as always, the location is perfect ... whether arriving by rental car, cruise liner or train (we prefer rental car ... the parking is most convenient!). The facilities... More

We used this hotel before and after our cruise. It was easy to get to/from the port using the "people mover" which was cheap, efficient and very easy to access and use. A decent breakfast is included as well. The rooms are spread over two buildings, one has reception and no lift, the other is across a parking area with... More

Just returned from our Med cruise, the three of us. We stayed at Ca Doge both before and after our cruise for one night. We knew the airport bus stop is right there by the hotel, but wanted to have pre-arranged transportation from airport since it was so late and we had 3 pieces of luggage. Bus would have been... I booked this hotel after reading that it was easy access from the airport & close to the cruise port. Both were spot on. Got on a bus right outside the airport terminal after buying tickets in a machine... ( easy instructions) 8€ .Bus stops right across the street from the hotel. Went right in & we were able to... We stayed here for one night before joining a cruise ship. It was an ideal location being the nearest stop for vehicles for Venice, right next to people mover for the cruise terminal and close to water buses. As some have said it is a it old fashioned but we didn't care. We have a really good nights sleep on... More

We booked the Junior Suite and although we were aware there was no elevator, we did not know we had three floors to go up with heavy suitcases. Agathe at the front desk very kindly lugged my suitcase up and my poor husband dragged his own. Although the room was larger than most, it was very ordinary and tired looking.... More

We flew with Ryan Air, a very inexpensive airline, landed at treviso airport. Found a bus right away to venice. That leaves you next to a final short ride train ( 500 meters). As you get off the train the Hotel is right there, a few steps away. Across the Plaza is a main stop for the Vaporetto. The Double... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
