The unique problem of this BB is to find it. Once you are in the train station, be prepare with some coins to call the owner using a public phone. He will give you instructions on how to get close to the apartment and then, call him again. In this second call in the Marcuola Vaporetto station, there is a... More

This is really a small, 2-bedroom apt in an apt building. It is adequate, and reasonably priced for Venice. The breakfast was kind of a joke--white bread and Nutella. There was a coffee pot, but the stove didn't work, until the owner came Day 2 and plugged it in! The biggest problem was finding it. You MUST have a phone.... More

Hotel was right off the water bus stop which was great, the owner met us there and showed us around the apartment. We stayed in room 2 which was a twin room (despite booking double) so we had to push beds together. Bedroom 1 was the actual double bedroom. Our room had a private bathroom however it wasn't en-suite, you... More

My wife and I were here in the middle of September. The website tells you it is a very quiet area. The website is wrong. There is a small canal right outside your window, whch leads to the Grand Canal. Ther are boats going in and out of this canal all night long, and the B&B is just across the... More

Great location, friendly owner , clean and comfortable. However, wouldn't stay again because of the layout of the bathroom. The bathroom was so narrow that it waseally difficult to sit comforatbly on the toilet and I'm only 5' 2"!

I booked this place during long weekend holiday of april '12. I was in this place for 2 nights. When I reached venice santa lucia, I have to call the owner & head towards some water stop, where He was waiting. He was welcoming & helpful. The location is very near to casino water stop. We were sharing the apartment... More

The location and suite was good; however, the room was more of a rental than a B&B (as advertised). The manager was not at the location. He dropped off rolls each morning. The kitchen provided the ability to make coffee. Other than the very simple rolls, only spreads were provided. Further, the Internet Access was down while we were there.

Visited Venice over a year ago (April 2010) and realized I never wrote a review about this B&B... The location is great, but Venice is so small everything is a great location. Our experience upon arrival was.. OK. You HAVE to call the owners before you arrive so they can come let you in. I called the guy (Georgio I... More

My husband and I spent four nights here in the "large room". We knew that we would be spending most of our time out and about, so we weren't looking for anything fancy, we simply wanted a room with an ensuite bathroom that was in Venice - and that is what we got. Pros: -Good location -Spacious room -Ensuite bathroom... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
