We chose this hotel based on the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. We booked about a week prior (for Easter weekend) and the only available room for two was the Sole apartment across the street. Little did we know how much we lucked out! The apartment is, yes, 6 floors up, but we had minimal luggage and didn’t... More

This is a small, friendly hotel; literally just round the corner from the Doge's palace and the San Marcos Piazza, and yet very quiet. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Good breakfasts including fruit salad, yoghurt, omelettes, croissants, and good coffee. If you eat at the attached taverna (OK but not great), there is a 10% discount, although we didn't... More

Great price and location, comfortable modern apartments, helpful staff and breakfast too! Bravo! Located behind the Danieli and near San Marcos basilica, 5 minutes from the taxi, the Luna apartment worked well for three friends traveling together.

Very convenient, we were in top room with easy access to roof terrace with views of Doge's Palace. 2 minutes from vaporetta. Room had attractive decor with lovely Venetian Glass window. Very warm and comfortable, helpful staff. Adjacent to Taverna dei Dogi which proved convenient when to tired to go out!

There's no better place to be in Venice. Considering you're carrying your luggage, getting to the hotel can be considered really easy (this is something very important to consider when in Venice). The place is super clean, the breakfast carefully prepared. Not to mention Suzanna and Stefano taking care of you, it seems you're visiting Italian relatives!!!!

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as a solo traveller in September 2014. This was my second stay, having stayed for a weekend in February as well. The hotel is perfectly located right beside St Mark's Square, but somehow it manages to be very quiet. For this stay I had two rooms--the single, which is tiny but manages... More

I traveled with my two boys in March 2013 and have owed a review for quite sometime. I was compelled to write because we had such a great time, not only is this hotel charming it truly is clean. I inspect hotels on how clean they are, location, service and I have nothing but good things to say about this... More

We stayed here for 5 days in June 2014 and had a great time. Wonderful room, excellent service and a great location. Near San Marco's Square & walking distance to all the major sights in Venice. The hosts were very helpful and John (the nightman) was always there to assist when needed, including making sure we had an early breakfast... More

We spent 3 nights here the end of Oct. into Nov. While searching online for our trip 2 months earlier I was surprised to find this gem so close to the Bridge of Sighs and San Marcos Square at such a reasonable rate and quickly made the reservation. When we arrived we fell in love with the place and it... More

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely bed and breakfast in November. The hotel is very central, 2mins walk from Piazza San Marco. The rooms are clean, modern and cosy. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was typical Italian and enough to start the day. I chose this hotel based on Trip advisor reviews and I was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
