Tucked away down a small alley but a great location near St. Marks. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Switchboard operators very helpful. One note, the room on the first floor is very tight for two. In fact, the bed is against the wall so put the person with the more fragile bladder on the outside. Make sure you take... More

My tiny room at this hotel was a marvel of organization. It had everything I needed in one of the smallest coziest little spaces I have ever occupied. The location is unbeatable - right behind the Doge's Palace and very close to a Vaporetto stop. You can spend a beautiful evening looking at the lights in Saint Mark's and then... More

We stayed 3 nights, excellent location, for a short break, room was 301, had a small terrace over looked a inner court yard, bathroom well equipment or though a bit on the small side, breakfast was great, especially the omelettes, Stefano and Susanna, were very helpful, in making our stay one to remember. We purchased a Alilaguna water bus ticket... More

The location of this hotel is outstanding. Just around the corner from St Marks Square and right next to the Bridge of Sighs. The room (301)we stayed in was nice and clean with a great little terrace which faced towards the Doge's Palace. Very friendly staff and a good breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again next time... More

We stayed at Ca' dei Dogi for three nights in early April. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to Dogi's place and St. Mark's square. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding! Loved the cappuccinos, orange juice and omelettes. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Susanna was especially helpful in explaining how to use... More

My wife and I stayed here last week for 3 nights. We had the Sole apartment which is just across a small alleyway for the main building. The accommodation was fantastic. A large super king bed, wall safe and TV were in the bedroom. Lots of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers for your clothes. A large entrance hall led... More

My wife and I both enjoyed the convenient location (right around the corner from San Marco), not to mention the modern, clean, and spacious apartment we stayed in (Luna). We will look to stay here again next time we're in Venice.

We chose this hotel based on the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. We booked about a week prior (for Easter weekend) and the only available room for two was the Sole apartment across the street. Little did we know how much we lucked out! The apartment is, yes, 6 floors up, but we had minimal luggage and didn’t... More

This is a small, friendly hotel; literally just round the corner from the Doge's palace and the San Marcos Piazza, and yet very quiet. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Good breakfasts including fruit salad, yoghurt, omelettes, croissants, and good coffee. If you eat at the attached taverna (OK but not great), there is a 10% discount, although we didn't... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
