Stayed here for three nights over new year.... Hotel was a good 50 minutes from the train terminal via water bus, which was a little tiresome at the end of a long days travelling, however its location really could not be faulted- being close to st marks square, bridge of sighs and the water bus stop. We were spoilt for... More

Excellent location ! and Gotta say they were very friendly and knowledgeable when we ask them about the routes to be taken. We were staying on the ground floor as all rooms were taken and it was really small but nevertheless it was cosy. Will stay over again if we were to visit again !

Excellent hotel located next to San Marco Square, accessible by water bus from the main train station. The 3 of us stayed on the first floor of the apartment which had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The rooms were clean and very quiet. The hotel staff were friendly, spoke English and recommended great restaurants to eat. Would definitely stay there... More

Excellent hotel with superb location coupled with clean rooms, great service/staff and free WiFi. Breakfast is good though not many vegetarian options Staff is friendly and super helpful. Will surely stay again and recommend for someone with priority towards great location at affordable price and great service.

Super location right behind the basilica San Marco, very friendly staff, but the rooms are tiny and our first allocation had neither working air conditioning or openable windows so that even in December the room was stuffy. But they moved us without complaint to a much nicer room and we had a good time.

We stayed here on our last trip to Venice and just came back from our second visit. It was even better than we had remembered,,..the owners are very present and go over the top to help and offer advice and tips. The prices for hotels in Venice, in general, are very expensive so if you want to make sure to... More

Stayed here two nights on my own in mid November. Location is really ideal for Piazza San Marco, and yet is quiet and doesn't feel touristy. Also quite easy to get to, since it's just a couple minutes walk from a water bus stop. Breakfast was pretty good (omelet especially). I had a single since I was on my own;... More

Stayed for three nights in October. This small hotel was a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. Its location is brilliant. Very close to St Marks square at less that five minutes walk. On one of the days took an early morning walk to St Marks Square and have photos of this normally overpacked place completely empty. Also very... More

As others have written, this is an amazing value in an otherwise beautiful, but very expensive city. We stayed in the Batik room on the 3rd floor & though small it was more than comfortable and absolutely spotless. Be aware that the stall shower is only about 3'x3', but we managed even though I am 6'2". The staff was friendly... More

We stated at Ca' dei Dogi for just one night prior to a cruise departing from Venice. The location is fantastic - you couldn't get much more central. 2 minutes walk from San Marco (but away from the crowds) and with views of the Doge's Palace from the room's private terrace. This was an ideal spot from which to explore... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
