We only stayed one night in Ca' Furlan but it was a great experience ! The hotel is 5-10 min away from Piazza San Marco, it is close to everything (but in a very quiet street). The owners are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are wonderful ! We know where to go if we ever go back to Venezia... More

As a family of five (3 upper teens) we spent a lovely week-end at this B&B run by a very friendly and helpful couple. Rooms very pretty, clean and comfortable just by a small canal. Very charming! Breakfast includes all you can ask for including great coffee, eggs, fruit and fresh juice. We can stronglt recommend it.

Our room was well decorated, with Venetian-style wall-paper and view of a canal. The hotel provided good Italian breakfast. The location is perfect - not far from St. Marco, but not on the tourist trails. The staff is very nice. Before our arrival we were provided with a detailed instruction how to reach the hotel, and it saved us as... More

We booked this place for the location close to St.Marks square at such an affordable price and it was nice and clean and didn't disappoint. We could n't find it initially as we were confused by the tiny streets and the owner was kind enough to come and fetch us from the main square. We stayed for 3nights in June and... More

The only great thing about this hotel is the location. It is in the lovely, charming Castello neighbourhood, not so many tourists, more local people and walking distance to major attractions. Supermarket close by. Our room opened onto the canal which was charming, but that was the only "nice" thing about this place. When we initially had to choose between... More

It turned out to be the most charming place we have ever had the pleasure to stay. Close to the main tourist road, between the Church of the Maltese Templars and Vivaldi's La Pieta, but yet in a quiet surroundings. I leaved the window open so we could hear the seagulls and wild geese on the canal underneath the window.... More

They were absolutely charming people at the bed and breakfast. They even carried our bags to the vaporetto. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful, an absolute joy to be around. And the food was great! Patricia Tawfik

We stayed here with our two young children in May. We struggled to find it at first (we arrived late at night) but when we did we were pleased. The rooms and adjoining bathrooms were pleasant and very clean. The breakfast was basic though and it would have been nice to have some cheese or extra fruits. The bread was... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
