Just stayed at this beautiful guest house. Really pretty, in a lovely spot in Venice. Excellent restaurants in close proximity, away from the crowds of San Marco Square. Great advice from Alberto and Margo who were more than helpful in giving advice and guidance. A true little gem! Would definitely recommend. The Cottons.

Charming small hotel, well away from the noise of San Marco, but right by the Grand Canal, very near to the water bus stop at San Stae, and an easy, pleasant walk to the Rialto Bridge and then on into San Marco. Very nice rooms, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. Good breakfast, and tea/coffee available all day in the sitting room.... More

A lovely quiet, but convenient, location near the San Stae water bus pier. Very friendly and helpful reception - lots of advice and directions on offer. Nice clean rooms, good supply of hot water and comfortable. Many thanks!

My wife and I revisited Ca' San Giorgio for 4 nights from 5th May. It hasn't changed and is still as good as before. The receptionists, albeit some have changed since our last visit 4 years ago, are as helpful and friendly as always and the accommodation is fine. This time we stayed on the first floor in Il Pantalone... More

First of all if Maria and Camilla are reading this I am so sorry that I posted this so late! The B&B is very nice, small and cosy and very clean. The room was spacious and clean, no issues at all, amazing value for money. The location is brilliant, away from all the busy tourists and noise but saying that... More

Perfectly located close to the Canal Grande, in a not too crowded area. Nice restaurants near by and close to the waterbus (Vaporetta). The moment you come too close to the train station or the St Mark's square it becomes very touristic and not as nice. Better to stay in a calmer area and take the boat around. At Ca'... More

What a disappointment this room located 5 meters from the reception ! If you are tired of your trip and want to relax in the afternoon, well do not count on it ! You'll get a real symphony of bells sounds, child running in all directions, phone ringing, footsteps in the central staircase. And it is quite logical as you... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was upgraded and felt like a mansion compared to a room we had in Verona. The place was very nice. We downloaded the map of Venice on Trip Advisor which came in handy when trying to find the place. We were given great pointers... More

A small and nice hotel which is very hard to find as there is no sign above the door or anything, just the door bell. There is a nice inner yard and a common living room for the guests. There are coffee and tea makers available in the living room. The room was small and quite cosy, the bathroom was... More

Beautifully renovated, elegant and clean. We stayed on the ground floor and we couldn't have wished for a nicer room. And it was only $65!!! The manager was extremely nice and helpful in every way. There was a cozy living room with a library, tea/coffee/snacks offered 24/7. And an abundant breakfast. We would definitely stay there again. It's a walking... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
