My husband and I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was upgraded and felt like a mansion compared to a room we had in Verona. The place was very nice. We downloaded the map of Venice on Trip Advisor which came in handy when trying to find the place. We were given great pointers... More

A small and nice hotel which is very hard to find as there is no sign above the door or anything, just the door bell. There is a nice inner yard and a common living room for the guests. There are coffee and tea makers available in the living room. The room was small and quite cosy, the bathroom was... More

Beautifully renovated, elegant and clean. We stayed on the ground floor and we couldn't have wished for a nicer room. And it was only $65!!! The manager was extremely nice and helpful in every way. There was a cozy living room with a library, tea/coffee/snacks offered 24/7. And an abundant breakfast. We would definitely stay there again. It's a walking... More

My husband & I stayed at this delightful B&B for 3 nights along with my brother & sister-in-law and we all agreed we could not have made a better choice. It is in a quiet area but just a stone's throw from the Grand Canal. We arrived by water taxi which delivered us to the jetty just a few yards... More

We stayed here a few days before Xmas and were nicely welcomed when we arrived. The hotel is badly signposted and we walked past it quite a few times before seeing the very small sign on the wall. The rooms are very very small but I suppose this is standard for Venice. The breakfast was adequate. We were a bit... More

Our family of 5 recently spent 4 days over New Years at Ca' San Giorgio and we had a beautiful trip! The wonderful thing about this hotel is its "boutiqueness" - a quiet area and a quaint historic building. We arrived at the train station coming from Innsbruck in the evening and walked easily to the hotel. Camilla stayed later... More

we stayed for 3 nights. The accommodations were clean and quiet, the bed was comfy, the room was spacious, the staff were wonderfully helpful, and the breakfasts were very good. We were delighted with the entire experience!

My wife and I stayed at Ca' San Giorgio in September of this year. This smallish Boutique Hotel added to our trip to Venice. We had taken the train from Florence and the directions to the Hotel is a bit like a treasure hunt with the prize being at the end of the trail. You cross bridges, you follow signs,... More

We spent 4 nights at Ca' San Giorgio at the beginning of December. Finding it was easy--we walked from the train station and followed the yellow signs for the Natural History Museum (which is right across the street). We were given an upgraded room (on the main floor, outside of the reception--) which was beautiful and quiet with a high,... More

1. Location: About 10 minutes walking to train station, fish market, and Rialto Bridge. 20 minutes walking to San Marco Square. 3 minutes walking to the supermarket. 2. Room: We had a big room on the ground floor for 3 people. Also, we had great time chatting with friends in the comfortable break room at night. 3. Breakfast: Originally we... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
