We visited Venice first in 2008 and were really happy with Alloggi Marinella - great staff, lovely location, perfectly clean. We are here again in 2015 and it's still great. Really happy and would highly recommend.

This is a quiet small hotel/guesthouse located close to the bus and rail stations and convenient for water transport to the islands and other parts of Venice. I stayed in the ground floor room next to the breakfast room and found this to be quiet and well laid out. This would be ideal for the less mobile visitor and was... More

We loved this place. We had a gorgeous little room at the very top of the building. We loved staying out of all the fuss of Venice, it is still very easy to walk in, and we actually had a far better time staying out a little way with better food, wine and service in the surrounding areas than when... Before leaving for Venice we made our reservation trough Hotel.com for an Hotel in Venice that wasn't too expensive but had Air conditioning and was kids friendly since I was the only adult with three kids ages 15,12 and 9. The chosen hotel was "Hotel al Malcanton" but when we arrived they hadn't received our reservation so they hadn't a... More

Very modern very clean and very good service and ideally located if your joining a cruise liner. It is near the piazza Roma bus terminal and st Lucia train station. Only had one bridge to cross although this was Constitution bridge. Good job there were no more like that whilst pulling luggage as Venice is not luggage friendly because of... More

Stayed here two years ago and gave it five stars mainly because it was clean and a perfect location to get in and out of the city and to the cruise port. This time, I have to deduct a star for two reasons: the same old scant breakfast and the hard uncomfortable bed. The breakfast comprised a croissant, jam, not... More

6 of us (3 couples) stayed her one prior to our cruise departing from venice recently. It is perfectly situated close to piazza Roma which is where the airport shuttle bus arrives. Only one bridge to cross and easy to find . The property is lovely and has lots of character and boast a lovely garden where it is possible... More

Lovely B&B near train station and main bus terminal. Venice is a difficult place to haul luggage through so having such a close location to transportation in and out of the city is key, unless you are all about dragging luggage over bridges and up and down stairs. Breakfast was nice but could have been more hearty; included croissant, jams,... More

We chose this small bed & breakfast as it was close to the cruise ship terminal. It was very nice to stay in the heart of Venice, but this location has its problems. Transportation from the Venice airport was very easy via the tourist buses, and drops you off right at Piazza Roma, which is 'only' a 1000 ft. walk... More

I agree with all the previous reviews that the location is the selling point for this B&B. Having not been to Venice since childhood (it is an absolute maze!) to be able to be in your room within 5 minutes of arriving at the bus station is wonderful. Set back in a side street it is quiet - my single... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
