It´s true that this place is hard to find, but the location is wonderful for exploring Venice, with the boat stop San Stae in walking distance. The apartment feels very authentic, the bed was fine and so was the bathroom. We liked the breakfast options, too.

Romantic apartment, beautiful living room, ancient mirrors and furniture. Convenient location but hard to find, without a map - it is impossible! High speed WiFi connection, and its quiet place, its important

We stayed at this B&B because we couldn't find a hotel that was within our desired area; we also booked it about two weeks from our stay. But we're so happy we came across this B&B. Maurizio, the host/owner, was so kind and made our stay feel as if we were staying with family. The room was very clean, nice,... More

Currently staying at this great little b&b, ignore all the old reviews regarding the grump lady....she's gone! The new owners can't do enough and seem to be very pleasant. The breakfast is nice with a good selection. The room itself is a good size with a comfy bed, it's very clean and great value for money, would definitely come back.

Very clean, comfortable, nice, with air conditioner, pretty bathrooms and good breakfast. The service was amazing and the people were very helpful and kind with us. We were staying two nights in an another horrible hotel and we run away. Ca' del Modena was our savior. It fulfilled all of our expectations.

Pleasantly surprised w/the beautiful accommodations at this B&B. Nicholas and Mauricio must be new since the last reviews. Nicholas even came to ferry to help us find the hotel. Mauricio and his staff prepared a glorious breakfast for the guests....anything we wished. What a treat......we'll be back again!

We were been in Venice for about 2 days and just needed a 1 night b&b, so we found this one, locations very nice, near of everything, quite good value, the only thing was the very hard rules of the owner. A nice lady but strict on what she wanted and how. The other staff were so friendly and helpfull.... More

We travelled in July 2011 and stayed here for a couple of nights. The room was spacious ,well decorated and clean. The ensuite bathroom was spotlessly clean. Having read mixed reviews, we were skeptical as to what to expect but it turned out to be a perfect stay. The owner does appear to be a bit strict but she is actually... More

We stayed in the B&B for 3 days and had booked the “French” room. Already before arriving to the B&B, we had a feeling what the owner was very demanding/unfriendly and difficult to deal with. You have to provide the owner your exact time of arrival to the B&B – we have said between 15 and 17, but it was... More

Seriously, if you're reading negative reviews and think that you won't have problems with Gabriella because usually you don't have problems with people, you're overoptimistic. Yes, location is nice, cleaning ladies and their work were so nice, but seriously, it doesn't worth that. You can find closed door instead of checkin, without any apologies and warnings. You will be treated... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
